Tina picked up a rotisserie chicken at weis markets....They are eating it with potatoes and beans.

I will have a bologna sandwich with cheese and tomato and lettuce; on french bread.
Later...after the chicken gets removed from the area. I don't know what they spice it with, but it is strong. Looks like rosemary needles.

I took son, DIL and a friend out to a really nice champagne brunch last week. One of the salads was a cold seafood salad. Very nice, interesting with a very light curry flavour. I am not generally fond of curry, but really liked this. There were squid rings, cuttlefish, shrimp, possibly other little creatures of the deep. I don't remember much else, other than that it was really good, and everyone really liked it. I have tried to find a similar recipe, have not been successful. I would love to surprise everyone on Christmas Eve............. we don't do turkey here!

Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance!

Lore..... on Wednesday night, I will take a big pot, and add 3 cups water....bring it to a boil, and add clams / muscles / celery leaves / garlic / and steam them covered...then throw in a can of tomato sauce and a can of Del Monte stewed tomatoes. When that starts to boil, I throw in shrimp ( cleaned and split but shell on )....then calimari rings / and scallops . Add pepper / salt / olive oil / Cover and cook like 7 to 9 minutes.
I dump it all on a big huge platter for all to shovel on their platters or over linguini . I strain the liquid and keep it warm in a gravy boat in case someone wants to add more liquid to their dish. Even at room temperature, the flavour seems to be more pronounced.

My daughter will make a salmon platter with cheese and vegetables and a salmon cream cheese dip.

Tina and Gabe ate the chicken ( small pullet ) and I just cleaned / cubed / and boiled pumpkin. Had that with two slices of bread and butter. Salt and pepper and a sprinkle of olive oil on the pumpkin.

Tummy hurts for some reason; so I made two slices of burnt toast and had that with some ginger tea with honey and a splash of milk!

I will pick the chicken, and make Tina and DIL chicken salad.

Lore - I found two recipes that sounded very interesting and adaptable ~ you could add whatever fish you wanted. I especially liked the idea of the mago chutney and fresh fruit in the second one....see what you think. Here are the two links:

Thanks, Beth and Uncle Jimmy! I don't want to get into serving things shell on. Too messy for a crowd, and my smallish place. The second one, Beth, I think I can adapt. It sounds really interesting and yummy for the adventurous in the crowd.

I will write down what I do with it and hopefully will be able to say "success"!

What's for dinner??? Today??? ... No Clue!
Tina is baking her Slovak Cookies / Italian Biscotti / and the making of the dough for the poppyseed rolls and nut rolls.

I guess, another shot at a bologna sandwich.... for me anyway. I am not fussy!

We had the memorial for Lyn & Bill's son today. She ordered a deli tray from the Jewish Deli - rare roast beef, roast turkey, pastrami & corned beef ~ potato salad, cabbage slaw w/light dressing & a cookie/sweets assortment. Oh, and a giant bowl of wonderful dill pickle spears! Everything was very tasty. We just put the salads into 'real' bowls and the breads in a nice basket instead of the plastic tray. The meats & lettuce/tomato slices looked OK on the plastic deli trays.

The pastor from their church did a lovely job and Lyn (my techy friend, to be sure) put together a Powerpoint of pictures of Mark growing up set to Frank Sinatra singing, "I Did It My Way". She is such a talented lady. If she's not careful the minister will have her facilitating and doing the same type of memorial service for others in the church!

Well.... seems like Tina was hungry, and suggested we get Chinese Takeout!
We selected what we all wanted, and ina made the note with the #'s on the menu that they use....she called, and they are closed on Monday's! hahahahahahaha.....

Now it's Italian take out from Franks up town. Tina and GD are on their way to pick up the order.

Just ate!... nothing to write home about!... Eggplant was so paper thin, it was all breading!
The garlic bread was wet and limp. They coated the inside with sauce!... yuck!

That surely sounds like a wonderful memorial service "My Way" is my favourite Sinatra song. I am such a fan of his, and was disappointed when we saw him in Las Vegas, and he didn't sing it.

It all sounds so good Beth. I love food from the Jewish deli. Especially Pastrami!...
Sorry to hear of Lyn and Bills son Mark.

Oh, dear, what to cook, what to cook??? We went out for a late breakfast because we had a bunch of running around/errands to do and, quite honestly, filled both us up for the day. Nothing much sounds good when you're not hungry. But I knew we'd need a meal so I suggested the last package of Johnsonville 'Firecracker' brats in the freezer. Neither of us cared much for them but I knew I wouldn't let them just go into the trash....might as well come up with a way to fix 'em that would be satisfactory to both of us. Sauerkraut might just tone down the taste a bit, I figured.

Looks and sounds good Beth, but I am glad Tina didnt pick up that style / flavor. The ones marked Hot & Spicy are great. They are hot enough for me to say, they are hot.

I could not believe it!... ANOTHER CHICKEN... Tina picked up!
A rotisserie stinky spiced bird, with rosemary needles all over.

I will have something after the stinky pullet smell subsides.

DH and roomie went to Laguna Beach yesterday and had mussels and clams in a saffron broth. They then drove to the Top of the World in Laguna and got a 360 degree view of the land. They drove back down and stopped at another restaurant and had grilled artichokes with a garlic aioli. They were not hungry when they got home so no cooking for me which also means I didn't eat anything but candy.
Today they went back to the beach because it was in the 80's here. I have a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove just in case they are hungry when they get back. The beach is only about 10 miles away but it took an hour for them to get home 'cause the traffic was so bad.

Delicious looking Norm.

I will be up for a few more hours. Making Potato salad. Peeling potatoes for tomorrow.
DW Has To have potato salad with ham!

Oh! Guess what? ... The Turkey is sitting in the back yard. I thawed it for a few days in the refer downstairs...and today I went to soak it and clean it in ice water, and There was a hole pierced in the sheath that they vacuum pack it in before flash freezing. Well The turkey was freezer burnt.
I passed it like a 14 LB football as far as I could throw it.
I felt like I was heaving a Shot Putt !!!

Tina ran to the store, and picked up a 6 Lb Breast frozen.
