Tina made me an egg omelet with onions and cheese.
Instead of toast, I asked for those Pillsbury little rolls in the 10 pack.
I ate 5 with the eggs, and then the remaining 5 with butter & grape jam; as my dessert!
Hey, they are little two bites they're gone rolls.

Tina had a cheese and chili omelet. No bread or rolls!
I do not know how she can eat eggs with no bread or toast. Every bite of egg I eat, HAS TO have a piece of bread or toast to chew with it.

Cassie is going to make dinner tonight. She said something about Brussels sprouts but I don't know what the main dish is. I plan to shop for a rib roast today for Christmas Eve dinner.

Lyn & I went to Fresh Market to look at the rib roasts last week. She wanted to get a good one before having to stand in line this week. We saw a beautiful one in the case and asked to have it weighed....there will be 6 of us. I looked at the scale and saw 7.89, assumed that was the weight, and recommended she get it. The clerk wrapped it up and handed it over the counter to her - we were chatting and shopping and really not paying much attention. At check out we noticed the price was $113....huh? I thought they were priced at $9/lb.

Turns out the numbers on the scale was the price....$7.89/lb. It actually weighed about 14.5 pounds!

OMG - that's gonna be a bunch of leftover beef with only 6 people. Lyn said it was OK with her. Bill loves a good chunk of beef so he'll be super happy with a 1" slab o'beef on his plate on Christmas Day!

(I'm hoping to use the bones to make beef vegetable soup for Lyn & I to share later.)

The bones are spare ribs. I save those for lunch the next day... I usually only get a three bone roast though.

Why don't you cut off the part you don't think you will need and freeze it for another day?. We have a store out here that is selling choice rib roasts for $4.88/lb with a coupon that came in the mail. I am going to get a big one at that price and cut it in half and freeze the other portion for another day. Another store has choice New York Steak roasts for $4.88/lb. I am going to buy one of those and cut it into steaks and freeze them.

It's already frozen....Lyn is happy it will all be roasted so all she has to do is reheat for another meal or two.

We went to the grocery store together and nothing looked interesting to either of us for supper.

One of the local restaurants has a $22 Twin Lobster Tail special running tonight - Woo Hoo! He thought it was a good idea!

We are doing the same thing tonight. Lobster tails. It is our roomie's and my DH's birthdays this week. They are going to order a third dinner of steak and split that between them. Me? I never can eat at a restaurant. I take two bites so it isn't worth the expense. I will have a bite of steak, soup, salad from DH's plate. I am the cheapest date around. When we were younger and my DH's appetite was bigger he would order two meals making it look like one was mine and then eat them both.

When we were at the grocery store today we saw 4 oz. lobster tails on sale for $4 each....a twin dinner for $8 plus the sides (not much $$ if you think about it). If they are still on sale tomorrow I think I'll pick some up to have in the freezer.

Our dinner was excellent. The tails were probably 5 oz. each, came with 2 sides. Of course, we both wanted a 'side salad' and that was $1 extra. My Bloody Mary was $2.50 and his Long Island was $3.50. Dinner for two came to under $50....and we're both full and smilin'!

That sounds like a great dinner, and price. I love seafood, but my favourite is King Crab. It is really expensive right now, though. I still have a couple of packages of pikeral that son caught, so I may have some of that tomorrow. Tonight I had some chili that I found in the freezer. It was really good, lots of beans. I love beans!

Bugs....sounds like someone I know!
Tina..... I call her the "Wrapitogo" Lady!....

It's no fun going to eat when "HogMan" scoffs down his meal, and Bird Woman picks out three teaspoons to eat from her meal.
The waiter / waitress usually say,"Oh! is something wrong with your dinner that you won't eat it?"..... Tina says."No...I cant eat much!"....

Had Nothing to eat all day! Stomach was hurting, and eye's were hurting. ( Strained )...

Tina god fire in her tail. and made the dough for her Slovak Cookies.
Then she made two cherry nut butter cakes.

She had a corned beef cooking with cabbage and potatoes.

I ate half of the corned beef with mustard and some with horse radish beets mix.

We picked at the cherry nut butter cake for dessert.

Gabe had scrambled eggs and toast and some of the cake.

Tomorrow.... DIL and DD are coming over to wrap the gifts. They are all in plain boxes, and as long as they don't peek, they will be wrapping some of their own.

God only knows what tomorrows food will be cooked. Maybe I will suggest Take out Chinese.
............or.......... I may think of making something they like. I was thinking of Chicken Pot Pies which they all love. Depends on how I feel. Right Now, that Chinese Take out is sounding good!

I almost passed out last night. Dinner for two, including tip was $168. And I didn't order anything. Thank heavens it is just once a year. Tomorrow the two of them are going out for muscles and clams and a grilled artichoke. This is going to be expensive. $15 for a Bloody Mary. For some reason it angers me. Neither one of them should be spending that kind of money on food. I don't care if it is their birthdays.

And that is why I love living in The Villages! Our son-in-law was super impressed when we went to one of the country clubs with Lyn & Bill for her birthday dinner. SIL saw the prices and knew it was less for 8 of us than it is for the 4 of them to go out for a weekend meal in Indy (at a chain restaurant) so he very graciously picked up the check for the table.

But I agree with you, Bugs. If $$ is tight then, birthday or not, one meal out should suffice and they should just cool it on eating out. They could have a huge meal at home for way less cost.

And I thought that $212 was a lot for a champagne brunch for me, a friend, my son and daughter-in-law. It was a very nice brunch last Sunday, and I won't be going there again when I'm picking up the check!

I hear ya on the drama!... It happens here too!...We will have it on the eve with the fish dinner, then the gift opening...and finally the Christmas day dinner.

A Huge Dinner.... turkey / ham / lasagna / kielbasi / and all the stuff that goes with it. If it was me, I would have everything cooked, and let them use the microwave to heat it up as they want! The pita is, that dinner has to be at 2:00...because the other uncle can't drive in the dark. 93 y/o .

I suggested they can drive here, then we can eat at like 5:00 and then around 8 pm have the kids drive them home; one in their car and then follow down in another car to return back here. It's a 55 minute drive there.

What gets me. Is the Rushing and the Drama to go with it!! ... affraid

Not much rushing or drama here. We have basically a pot luck dinner Christmas Eve. I make chicken wings, shrimp, oven roasted potatoes, seafood chowder. Niece is bringing a rabbit and Spaetzle. One daughter-in-law is bringing dessert, the other one veggies and dip. I make up a pickles type tray, probably some devilled eggs.

I'll also add some chicken breast in with the wings, for one DIL won't eat the wings.

We gave up presents a few years ago, donate that $$$ to the Salvation Army Christmas basket program.

Lore, that sounds lovely. A plan for 'traditional' foods everyone loves. The main thing is getting together and enjoying each other's company.

My first big "do" in the condo! I have seating for 16, am expecting only 13, but who knows. Sometimes my children tell someone to "drop by" Especially since older son moved about 35 miles away, he and/or his wife may have mentioned it to old friends here.

I was 'clueless' as to what to fix for supper....looked in the refrigerator and had NO inspiration at all, save for a 1/4 bottle of red wine left over from who-knows-when. I checked the freezer in the kitchen......nothing of any interest. I went to the garage freezer ~ first thing I laid eyes on was a package of a couple chicken leg/thigh sections. Hmmmm, red wine, dark meat chicken = Coq au Vin....or something I could call, Coq au Vin.

Let's face it, it's French sounding but it's nothing more than chicken oven braised in red wine. Pretty darn tasty is what Mr. Amazing thought....
