We love artichokes. I cut them in half, steam them, remove the choke, marinate them in Italian dressing for a few hours and then grill them on high till bit charred on both sides.

Dinner / dance with the neighborhood this evening ~ around here it's considered the 'end of season' for those residents who will be soon heading back north to their 'summer' homes.....not everyone is a permanent resident like we are.

I made 5 large breaded shrimp for Tina...and mashed potatoes, and broccoli.
I had a tin can of sardines. A hunk of rye bread, and a chocolate covered doughnut.
I'm full now, and I am t i r e d .... Got lots to do tomorrow. ... prepping food, and making dough and assembling my Pizzagaina ( Meat and cheese filled pies ). Thank God I made the filling last night.
Tina is coloring HB eggs for the table basket. It's a ritual. It's not Easter, unless we color eggs.

I saw a cute idea where you color eggs with old silk ties....darn, but we threw out all of Mr. Amazing's ties before moving here.

Barb was my inspiration for tonight's supper. She made something similar recently and I've been hungry for it ever since!

Well, I can't say all beef. I went to Winn Dixie and they finally put the leftover corned beefs on sale at half price. I bought one and cooked it today for Monday. It sure did shrink down a lot.....glad I didn't spend the $19.78 original price and only had to pony up $9.45 for it. I sure hope it tastes good. It looks like it's going to be enough for one meal and maybe one Reuban sandwich for him later in the week.

I LIKE hard shells once in a while.....but the soft flour tortillas are still a favorite (easier to fill and eat without the stuff falling off in my lap ~ such a mess!)

Me too . Just did not feel like going out . Lazy butt watched cooking shows and napped . Was not thrilled my satilite went out due to the rain . My internet wifi is very very slow . Hate this . 2 years of this crap !!!!!! Not happy .

I take those hard shells, and soak them in warm tap water, then nuke it for like 8 seconds, and they are nice and pliable, and they don't break when I take a bite.

Would you believe I'm still up prepping and cooking. I boiled the smoked Kielbasi and fried the fresh one with onions braised slow!
I fried the box of fresh mushrooms and onions, then glazed them with butter.
The ham was boiled, and I put it in the tray / pan to glaze and heat tomorrow.
The turkey breast is outside in a pot of salt water. It's cold enough out there. 40º out on the deck.
My sweet potatoes are boiled and peeled.....
I made 4 Easter Pies today. They came out really great..... "Pizzagaina".... cheese and sausage and pepperoni, and Tina and I sampled it already.
I took some pics....
A bottle of wine, and I'm ready to go!

Jimmy, you must be exhausted~but very happy! The pies look amazing and you did a really good job on them. I hope the kids appreciate all the work you put into today's dinner. You will have food for a week! ((Happy Leftovers !!!!))

We never had a big Easter dinner when I was a kid. At least I don't remember one. I remember dyed eggs, chocolate marshmallow bunnies, ham and povitica bread.
It's just Charlie and me for dinner today and I plan a salad with sugared almonds, sweet dried cranberries, lettuce, apples, oranges, green onions and a vinegar & oil dressing. I have a ham, chocolate eggs (Cadbury), asparagus and sweet potatoes and green beans.

No messy cooking in my kitchen....like I mentioned, going out to eat for the first time in my life on Easter. We'll see how it goes. Actually, I'm not looking forward to it, but if I had offered to host Easter Lyn would have felt bad because of a back injury and her inability to assist or help. She asked if we could just go out instead.
I'm such a good friend, I agreed just so she would feel better about it.

For the first time in a very long time, I have a turkey in the oven. Easter for us when on the farm was generally, hopefully, the first of the season's firepit outside lunch. This year it's early, so it probably wouldn't have worked out. Turkey will be just fine, it's stuffed, will make some extra stuffing on the side, some sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, sis is bringing dessert.
