Yeah, Barb, Jimmy & I are both the same type bakers......boxed mixes pulled from the pantry!  I especially like that French Vanilla cake when I find it on sale for $1.  That's when I pick up a couple to put in my pantry.  It is quite a tasty vanilla flavor ~ I usually make cupcakes from it.

I do have a number of 'from scratch' cakes, but admittedly use box mixes for the majority of my cakes.

Now, cookies, those are 99.9% made from scratch.

Pudding ~ 50/50.

Beth... the only from scratch cookies I ever made, are those anisette toast biscotti. I could do those blind folded.

From scratch waffle batter, and anything else, is from a box.

I'll never forget, I was like 13, and mom bought an electric frying pan (as we called it. It was a Sunbeam square one, and all cast aluminum. No such thing as non-stick or teflon back then.

I wanted to surprise Mom and Dad, and made the Pineapple Upside Down Cake in that fry pan. It came out perfect, at least I thought so.
I just couldn't fathom cooking / baking a cake, in a Frying pan! hahahahaha

Loved, loved, loved your story about the "slice" of ice cream, too, when you were a kid.  I could just hear the kids talking about it the next day!  Thanks for sharing that with us....
