Bummer! Good thing you don't have to live in a tent.....I'm struggling today with overcast skies....but the sunshine will return soon, I'm sure. DD#1, SIL, GS & GD all will arrive late Wednesday night for a 4 -5 day stay. Don't have anything planned as we just kind of play it by ear as to what anyone wants to do.

An hour ago there was more snow and it was still falling. Rain has melted some of it.

Jimmy, your pies are beautiful! I could never get a brown crust like that with my awful oven.

I pulled out a frozen turkey I got on sale at Thanksgiving and started defrosting in the fridge aa week ago. I hope it is edible. Just mashed potatoes and dressing to finish it off. No one wanted any veggies.

Beautiful berries! I tried growing them once but between the squirrels, rabbits and birds, I didn't stand a chance.

Small container of California strawberries yesterday, $5.99................. sorry California farmers, I didn't buy them. They either taste like cardboard or half of them are already rotten in the box. Not complaining, they have a long way to go, and the farmers need to make some $$$. Unfortunately most of the $5.99 here goes to middle men, transport etc., etc., and the farmer doesn't get much, and his pickers don't get much either

Kugel

In German a Kugel is a bullet.  This looks more tasty.

Turkey dinner is finished, guests gone with leftovers in containers and bags, kitchen cleaned up. My leftovers are in the fridge, I'm tired!

we get one of the grandkids here. The other goes to the local Mariott to stay in a suite with Mom & Dad..... Dad travels so much for work that he gets free rooms so they don't have to stay on the couch with the in-laws. LOL

Barb - your meal looks fantastic. Your lamb came out perfectly roasted. Those berries look great. We've had a few of the local berries here. Love when they are $2 for a 2# box and they taste like they should and don't have 'hollow' centers but are red all the way through. Your berry pie looks stellar!

Lore - don't you just love a good meal AND it's ending when you can finally kick off your shoes and just relax in the chair?

Bugs - hope your turkey turns out good. IMO the veg is the best part of just about any meal. I usually have more sides than anything else! LOL

And now I know why we never go out for a holiday....crowds, noise, food under par......not worth it. Oh, it wasn't expensive, but it wasn't anything 'special' and nothing to remember tomorrow. Dane had what was listed as leg of lamb and it looked more like gyro meat, cut thin and completely over done. I had a steak that I could have done better on my grill at home. But the company was fun and lively and we did enjoy talking with everyone. But I think next time I'll just stay home and cook.

No  I am just getting back to normal. I ate so much, it was gluttonous of me! .... I even ate Turkey breast!  What a Face   Yep! .... Jimmy ate turkey!

DD was basting it every 15 minutes, and I asked / commented...."Does all that basting, really make a difference?" .... Obviously, it did!
It caramelized the skin, and put like a glazed crust on the breast.

DD did the same with the beef Rib Roast.

I was so full, I couldn't breath; I was so stuffed.... pale  pale

Some of the food pics Tina took....

Good Lawd, Jimmy ~ you all should have exploded from that feast! I could have just stopped at that beautiful beef roast pic.

It sure would be nice to live next door to you or Barb.

Beth, you would think there was a soup kitchen goin on here. After the dinner, the girls did a great job packing it all away, and then DD ( in a pissy mood ) said,"See, I don't know why you and mom didn't keep it simple!"....
Mad Mad Yet, they filled their bellies. And, with all the leftover food, the kids took none home. I practically had to break DD's arm to pack some food for their old farmer friend next door...... Sheesh!!!.... Kids!!! No

OMG! It looks like the buffet line at a hotel. Your dinner was much better than mine. I cooked that frozen turkey but I thought the "sour mop" taste was a bit strong. I forget what that is called, a sort of a gamey taste that I am very sensitive to. It was very moist. As usual, Joe's stomach started grumbling 2 hours before the turkey was due to come out of the oven. He comes back an hour later and tells me the turkey is done. I check and the thermometer says differently. He insists that it is time to pull the bird out. I say "ok" but he is wrong. We pull it out and start cutting into it. He wouldn't even let it rest. Well, the juices were a tad pink, so we pulled out the stuffing and put it in a pan, cut the turkey breast off and threw it back in the oven. 30 mins later we could eat it. He can be such a PITA in the kitchen. Telling me how to cook. When I step back and say "you take over" he says no, no but he still wants things done his way. He thinks he is so smucking fart sometimes.
