When Col. Sanders had sold KFC, he complained to the company he sold it to that the way they made gravy tasted like wall paper paste and so they changed it.

I noticed the last batch of KFC chicken tasted too salty for my taste.

Oh, it's way more salty than what I generally eat, but once in a while that's O.K. You are probably cooking with less salt than you did some years ago, and have become used to it.

I just finished using up most of the turkey from Sunday's dinner. Made a pot of turkey chili, and what I think is an awesome casserole. Some for me for tonight, some for DIL's parents, some has gone into the freezer for another day.

I sauteed some onion, garlic, celery in butter. Added about a cup of chicken broth, two very large carrots (sliced) about two cups of frozen peas. Cooked about two cups of Spaetzle. When they were done and drained, added them to the vegetables, added a can of cream of mushroom soup. Mixed it all up, then added about 2 cups of shredded mozzarella, some salt and pepper, paprika, fresh parsley, and put it all into an oven proof dish. When it goes into the oven, I'll add extra cheese. Ooooh, forgot, about 3 cups of chopped turkey mixed in everything!

That sounds great, Lore! I love when I can finish up something like a whole turkey in just a few days so I don't keep looking at it and wondering if it is ever going to be gone....

LOL

Good for you for finding someone to share it with.

Cod was on sale today so I picked up a filet....just under a pound. I split off the loin and then had a big, thinner filet for Mr. Amazing. I made microwaved cauliflower to take the place of potatoes and did the last of the asparagus on the grill. The fish got a sprinkle of s&p and a mayo slather and then some panko so it wouldn't stick in the cast iron pan. Heated the pan on my clean grill (I finally changed out the grates and now it looks beautiful again....) and then cooked the fish outside on the grill side burner. HE was happy with the meal, especially when he got a huge cod filet.

Tina just put a casserole of baked ziti in the toaster oven.
Ricotta , mozzarella and romano cheese... It was good. The next door neighbor got the remaining 2/3's ...Tina is cold. It's 76 in the house, but she wants the pellet stove light!

I guess sometimes when you don't feel well, it takes heat to make you feel better.

Jimmy, I could not believe the spread you put out for Easter! How many people were there?

Oh and your Easter Pies -- the "Pizzagaina" -- were absolutely gorgeous. My mouth actually watered when I saw them. Ooh, and I'm glad you sampled them, too, so we got to see the inside as well.

If I had been your guest, I would've taken any leftovers you offered me. And I probably would've dug into them when I got home, too!

No real supper here tonight....the kids should be landing in Orlando at any moment. They didn't know if they would eat on the way here or after they get here, either way is fine. I did make Dane a Greek salad. I also made some guacamole and I've got some of the mini tri-colored peppers to stuff with chive cream cheese if anyone wants snacky stuff instead of a meal. Just going to play it by ear ~ or mouth ~ or stomach.....oh, you know what I mean! LOL

I am tired . I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms , scrubed floors . Really should clean out under sink and plastic cab . That will be a big job . Sigh.

Tina made split pea and ham soup. Good, only she used schredded carrots because she wanted to use them up from the carrot cake she made.

Tina wants pizza from Domino's so GD is running to pick it up.

DH and Roomie are going to A Taste of Dana Point. For $20 they get to sample from 20 different restaurants. I wanted to go but when I found out I would have to pay even if I didn't eat, I decided to stay home. Maybe I will make a burger.

Question: does anyone use a spaghetti fork for dishing out pasta?

We have one or two, and they get buried in the utensil drawer. It's good only for spaghetti. Not other macaroni shapes. But...Tina bought these things that are metal, like grabbers, and they have like a claw on each side, so perfect for any kind of spaghetti or macaroni shapes. Let me see if I can get a picture of one.

Here they are.... they are great!

I marinated a couple pork tenderloins....orange marmalade, soy sauce & homemade lemonade to thin it out ~ pretty creative, huh? Actually, it was really tasty. I did a sweet potato in fat slices and halves of yukon gold potatoes on foil on the grill till just browned nicely. Cauliflower & broccoli steamed in the microwave.

And, OF COURSE, there was no thought about grabbing a pic until the meal was complete. Three people at the table offered to scrape plates and let me take a pic of leftovers.....funny crowd.

But I do have a pic to share. One more thing to check off her 'bucket list':
