We grilled a NY steak on Sunday It was supposed to be choice but it was tough. I think some grocery stores label their meat as choice but it really isn't. Joe polished off the rest of the steak last night. I pulled out some lasagna for dinner.

I think I might have caught ringworm from those kittens I had. I discovered two spots: one om my neck and the other on my cheek. It is possible that those spots have been there and are not ringworm I just never noticed. Anyway, I bought some Lotrimin and started treatment - just in case it is ringworm.

Bugs, I don't mean to be an 'alarmist' here but it sounds like a problem DD#1 had when we adopted a couple kittens from our neighbor when she was young....probably 10 or 11 years old.  I don't remember exactly how old she was, but she was in elementary school.

She got what looked like a small pimple on her face, by her mouth.  It grew and grew, the school nurse said it was ringworm and she couldn't come to school until treated.  We had gone to the pediatrician and he prescribed some cream but it didn't help.  The nurse allowed her to be in school but it grew some more.  We went back to the pediatrician 3 times, each time getting something different.  By this time it had grown to be a scaly, itchy patch that went across her chin from each corner of her mouth.

Finally, we headed to the dermatologist....keep in mind, we didn't usually go to any doc other than the pediatrician or 'family practice' doctor.

I was glad I decided to take her to a specialist.  He took one look, asked if we had any pets ~ we said, yes, two cats.  He did a scraping to culture.

Turns out she had 'CAT FUNGUS'.

She was grossed out. I was shocked ~ never knew something like that was passed from animals to little girls.

It took some expensive cream (special mix by pharmacist) and several ultraviolet light treatments to finally get it gone.

Moral: Don't wait a long time before going to have it checked by someone who actually knows what they're talking about. I know you have a family full of doctors ~ if you have a dermatologist in the family, great! If not, just go get it checked out. It could save you a whole lot of itchy pain.....

Hate to tell you, but if the spots are in a ring, it could also be scabies. There was an outbreak of that in the school when my daughter was about 7years old. Terrible itching, more at night than daytime. My boys never got it.

For the scabies the treatment was something called Kwellada, and I think it's still used.

Bless you child! I have never heard of "Cat Fungus". I will keep that in mind while I try the Lotrimin. The spot is a round circle about the size of a nickle. It has a raised edge and itches a bit. It sure looked like ringworm to me when I Googled it. If if doesn't start to clear up I will head to the dermatologist as fast as my rotten health care will let me.

I can only imagine how happy your husband is that you are home to make all of his favorites! Great choice of fillings.

Going to make some chicken legs today. Since sis is now in hospice, I make something for her husband occasionally. He really likes my oven roasted chicken legs, and my niece who is there at sis's house calls my chicken "the best chicken in the world". LOL. It's nothing special, just spiced with garlic, cayenne, salt/pepper and then baked at 350 until nice and crispy.

I am also going to make a spicy/sweet salsa to go with it.

I'm sure they both really appreciate your efforts to supply an occasional meal ~ I know, from experience, as you do also, that preparing and cooking a meal is the last thing you want to do at a time like this. It's nice to know it's taken care of.....and a meal ALWAYS tastes better when someone else prepares it!

Oven ribs on the menu tonight. I 'steamed' the ribs on a rack in a low oven for about 1-1/2 hour and then raised the temperature to 425° to let them finish cooking and brown up. It was a half rack I had in the freezer with rib rub on before freezing ~ no need to season before cooking that way. I decided to make a citrus BBQ ~ slathered on some orange marmalade and then topped with a bit of Sweet Baby Ray's.

The potatoes were the ones that are all the rage on the internet now. The internet recipe calls for browning them in a 500° oven, turning to brown both sides, and finally adding some chicken stock for the potatoes to absorb and give a super tender interior. I did the same basic thing only used a cast iron skillet on the stove top. They're a 'keeper'. Nice browning and a super tender, soft interior.

My lovely peas & carrots and sweet kale salad (salad kit from Wal Mart) finished off our meal.

Oh, and I made a peach cobbler this afternoon for dessert. We've had some really lovely southern peaches (not sure if they're Georgia or South Carolina grown, but absolutely delicious). I used the 'Cuppa~Cuppa~Cuppa' cobbler recipe (a cup of self-rising flour, a cup of sugar & a cup of milk) for the batter to pour over the sliced peaches (which were on top of melted butter in the casserole). I decided to try a suggestion to add some lemon juice to ''really bring out the peach flavor".....NOPE! As far as I'm concerned, it ruined the flavor of the peaches. So, live & learn. I should have made it the way I always do. It wasn't terrible, just not the flavor we prefer.

No cooking again. Going out to a local place with neighbor Jim.

Whenever he comes here for a meal he insists on treating us to a meal out someplace.

(( Funny, but we never complain! LOL ))

I have friends like that. I make them one of their absolutely favourite things (Head cheese) because Dora can't do it any more, and they always insist that they want to take me out to the best steakhouse in town! I also never argue!

Nobody does that for me. They always pay back Charlie instead. Maybe it's because he is usually the one who invites them but I did all the cooking.

And, does Charlie say t to them "Thanks, but the credit is not mine, I didn't do the cooking?"

P.S on edit. I had quite the discussion about just that with some friends and my husband years ago. Everyone was sitting around on the patio, hubby was dong the grilling and basically everyone was telling him what a great meal it was. And I got up, and I lost it. I said, that I was happy that they were enjoying the food, but basically all he did was throw the stuff on the grill turn it over a couple of times, and you all tell him how great he is. Well, I asked, who do think cleaned the veggies, marinated the meat. made the potato salad,, set the table, carried all this stuff down that whole f***n set of stairs? And who will also probably be carrying it all back up again later? I had lots of help cleaning up that night.

That's like when someone compliments me by saying to Dane, "You're a Lucky Man ~ I'd weigh 300 pounds if I had someone cook like this for me!"

And to that Dane would reply, "Yeah, but WHEN I cooked for myself (for 9 or 10 months) when Beth was here in Florida and I was still working in Ohio, I did just fine for myself."

It was like he was comparing a home cooked, from-scratch meal to a large order from Kentucky Fried Chicken that he ate for 3 days or the pizza he made into two meals.

I finally just told him what a jerk he was and left the table.

And I think he was clueless as to WHY I might be upset and not thrilled he was able to fend for himself......

I still think he's a jerk.

LOL

That looks great. I cannot find 'small' hams that aren't sliced. Every single one they carry around here is sliced about 1/4" thick ~ and all it does is dry out and turn into parchment paper. Makes me so angry. I much prefer unsliced and then I can slice off a 3/4" 'steak' for scalloped potatoes and have the rest for a 'real' ham dinner. Our Target carries groceries but I've never seen any little hams like you got. Maybe I should go and look again.....

I pulled the last of the fish I had from the freezer. It was a nice piece of grouper.

I made fried potatoes & lima beans to go with it. the rain held off so I was able to heat my cast iron skillet on the stove and then carry it out to the hot gas grill to cook the filets. I used mayo and panko on the seasoned fish before pan frying.

Beth...this was sliced but thin; like 1/8 inch or less.

I'm going to my first real "party" since this nasty COVID locked us all down. A friend's 60th b-day, an outdoor, masked event along the Niagara River! Making potato salad for 30 people. The weather is co-operating. 75 F, should be fun.
