Last night was golf night so we had supper at the Mexican restaurant .....a place that's always busy.  But it's close to the golf course and everyone likes their margaritas.

Norm thats the way it is here too. Folks find a good eats place & it is standing room only. Oddly enough Our Outback is still like that.It used to be really bad for waiting at Cracker Barrel,I think folks got tired of the awful food or folks who got fed up with the service & very high carbs food IDK. But the one that went in here went in out by the interstate good idea for them.lol

I can not tell you how PICKY I am over where I eat if I choose to eat out at all.
Thanks Barbara! .... DD and I like the hottest we can get.
There is one little tiny pepper that is hotter than Habanero Pepper, and we eat them. They are Chinese or other oriental peppers. I buy the Chinese Peanuts with those crushed peppers. OMG H O T !!!!!!Embarassedaffraid

The DD asked if I could make kabobs so I have chicken chunks marinating in some Asian ingredients in the fridge.  I made vegetables on bamboo skewers - zucchini, onion & red peppers.  We'll have some nice Jasmine or Basmati rice to put under.  Anything on rice is GS's favorite meal.

I know they are hot Imelda and Beth!
They are the ones I dry out, and then all it takes is one in the whatever I cook.

When I grind them, I have to do the grinder in front of the window fan so the fumes and dust
do not get in the nose or eye's.

Tonight, we are having Philly Cheese Steaks Sandwiches on rolls with fried peppers and onions.
I use the sliced thin minute steaks, and pull them apart as I fry them with two forks.

I can't wait! .....

I have to fry my peppers separately from Tina's. She likes them mushy and browned along with the onions.
I like them just fried until a little soft. I like the onions tranlucent and the peppers with just a little crunch left in them. Yummie!

Yeah, that's what we're having!!

Thanks for posting the pic for me!

I marinated the chicken chunks since this afternoon and then just put the chicken and an onion petal on the skewers.  The vegetable kabobs were zucchini, onion and red pepper squares....everything got a brush of a plum sauce/ponzu glaze to cook on at the last couple turns.  Even Dane said the chicken was tasty!

Jimmy, the Philly sandwiches sound yummy!  Isn't it interesting how different the peppers and onions taste when you switch the cooking method or done ness of them?

That onion & egg thing I made the other day had onions that were fried hot and quick so even though they were caramalized on the edges they were still a little bit crisp.  Fabulous!

I am making something I have not done in a few years but used to make all the time. It is Korean Teriyaki Chicken Wings

I also plan to make rice and a salad.

BULGOGI FOR BEEF   OR CHICKEN WINGS

1/4 cup sesame seeds toasted
2 cups soy sauce
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
3/4 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
1 tablespoon garlic minced
1/4 cup sesame oil
1 tablespoon corn starch
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar

MIx cornstarch and water; dissolve brown  sugar in water.  Add all other ingredients and simmer in pan briefly to thicken slightly.  Store, refrigerated in covered glass container until ready to use.

Cut beef into very thin slices or cut wings into sections.  Pour sauce over meat and mix until well coated.  Let stand 10-15 minutes. sauté, cook in wok or grill until done but not browned.

Bake chicken wings @ 305º 45- 60 minutes.  Cover with foil if they begin to brown too much.

Ooops! ..... I missed this one.

Yeah! The doneness of the onion. Holy Crap! It sounds like a title of a movie....

"Doneness Of An Onion"  ....

Also...the cut of the onion has a lot to do with the taste.
Tina slices the onions really thin, and fries them to brown carmelized. I choke on them, because now like that, they become like bolony skin strings. Especially the outer petals of the onion. Gaaaak!

I like the onions fried also, but I cut them in 1/4" wedges North South. In soup, diced. Tina likes whole onion cut in half, and then throws the onion away.

Raw onion on a burger...thick slice, and must cover the burger completely! If I'm lucky to have a big fat onion.

It's the same with garlic. Sliced / slivers / minced / crushed / whole / grated on the microplane / round slices / etc.... all different ways, give a different taste. At least I can tell the difference.
I like whole cloves thrown in the chicken soup, and when they are cooked and soft, I love to just mash them with my tongue in my mouth. Then go to the Dentist! LOL  Surprise!! Burp*

Check this out! Tina had a Spaghetti on buttered toast sandwich for a midnight snack. I would have had one,
but I don't like meat sauce. That's all she is doing now, is watching episodes of the Soprano's!

These sandwiches are awesome tasting. It is an entirely different taste. Gee I wonder what the carb count is with this thing??

Looking at and hearing about all this food is making me want what everyone else is having.....and I'm on a mission to use up what's in the freezer so I can get it cleaned out and sold.  I have a rack of ribs thawed in the refrigerator for tonight...got the idea to go rummaging around in the freezer from the inspiration of this thread!

I don't think I'll be making a spaghetti sandwich anytime soon....but I do hope Tina enjoyed it.  Actually, it reminded me of when my dad would have a lunch of van de camp's canned baked beans on a hot dog bun....lol

Imelda, I used boneless chicken breast for my kabobs.  I think the marinade soaked into the meat and the stayed moist and not dried out and hard to chew.  I wanted to take Norm's suggestion for marinates but the 9 yr. old won't eat if I use raw ginger so I have to resort to the milder store bought products DD has filled my refrigerator with.

I've got a rack of ribs in a slow oven for an hour or so and then will brown and glaze with some Sweet Baby Ray's on the grill, along with a potato packet and steamed green beans.

What is it about a pile of sausages that is SO appealing???  Man, I just want to reach in my computer screen and grab one to munch on!

I'm not hungry in the least.  My ribs were wonderful and there was enough that I even have 3 left for a lunch for someone tomorrow.  I'm stuffed.  But a nice fresh hot dog bun with a big, fat sausage with a whole bunch of browned onions and grainy mustard has my mouth watering big time.

Ah, maybe this weekend....although we're going out with friends tomorrow night.  Maybe the johnsonville brats will be on sale this week......

If I eat wurst with no onion, then it's mustard. Weird huh?

🇳🇴Tina got some kind of chicken cheese kit with seasoned crumbs on one side, and the cheese on the other. I used the cheese.
Tasted like Chef BoyArDee pizza kit pizza with sawdust cheese. Yuck!!!Sad

We have braunschweiger about every 2 months or so.  Any mere than that and it's one sandwich and then the rest is tossed.  But it's the braunschweiger, the Miracle Whip, onion, yellow mustard, big slice of onion and a wad of iceberg lettuce.  Always.  We had it when Dane got to the villa...it had been months and we were both really ready for a couple sandwiches that week.
