Jimmy, if you leave those peas on the vine long enough, they get big like regular peas. When they are young, the peas are immature and the pod is edible. These had a string that i should have taken out. The ones I used to grow didn't have that, if I recall correctly.

(I've got another batch of raw, frozen meatballs from when I made the spaghetti & meatballs the other night and I figure Susan's Meatballs will be the perfect use.)
"Susans Meatballs". recipe circa 1960's
1 lb. of Ground beef / onions minced / fresh bread cubes / egg / s & p .... shaped
(oval and flat) into 8 oval shaped meatballs; and then lightly dredged in flour; fried just to browned lightly.
In a casserole pan...and covered with two cans of cream of mushroom soup ( The new Dark brown kind, or the white kind, or mixed ; do not add water ) then baked un-covered 350º for 45 minutes to 55 minutes till they brown and bubble.

Thanks Norm. I'm gonna get Tina to get me some. I remember they were really crunchy ( have a bite to them ).
The roast looks succulent.

I'm a hog when I eat fish!.... Halibut is rare in the stores here. Haddock or Cod even better.

I knew it was a fairly easy recipe....just could not recall what was used. I now have it copied over to my recipe files. When I want to make it I'll ask you what the name is.....I'll probably look for it under Gertrude's Meatballs or something strange.

I went to the movies with the neighborhood ladies this morning and then out for lunch. The movie was really good - Helen Miren in "Woman In Gold". Lunch was OK, but the company was great!
We're cleaning out the refrigerator of leftovers tonight. Tomorrow night is the 'end of season' neighborhood BBQ at one of the Rec Centers. So, two nights of no cooking for me.....Yea! for me!!!

I had an aunt Esther, and she loved sandwiches on English muffins. Right from the package though, and not toasted even a little. yuck!
I have used E muffins for sandwiches, but at least toasted lightly.

Unless EM's are toasted, I think they taste raw. I don't know if I mentioned this but I bought a package of crumpets. Not good to me. The texture was a cross between pancakes and a sponge. The taste was also raw, even toasted. They went into the trash.

Oh! No!....hahahaaha...Tina bought those crumpets once. She said they were less calories. I made a sandwich, and had to use two because forget cutting them, they are so thin. I took one bite, and spit it out. It did, it tasted like a cold wet sponge.
They remind me of cold potato pancakes. And bland as heck.

She bought us Corn on the Cob today, for supper tomorrow.
She saw me drooling over Barbs corn on the cob yesterday.......
She stopped and piked up taco's from taco bell, and now...she's baking a carrot cake.
A/C is definitely ON in the kitchen. Nice and cool.

First of all, a friend of my nephew's needs your prayers. His father went to China on business and to visit family. Over there they do a lot of business in cash. He was carrying hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has disappeared. No one has been able to get in touch with him. Doesn't sound good at all.
Second thing is dinner. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. While my DH was having a lithotripsy for a kidney stone I was trying to kill time and went into Home Goods and found this thing in the clearance section. It is called a Dash Masha. It looks similar to an immersion blender but is for mashing potatoes, avocados, batters, anything that is soft that needs mashing. I was skeptical, but bought it anyway. This morning I gave it a try. I'll be damned! It makes the most incredibly smooth mashed potatoes. The hell with my hand masher and ricer. This thing takes the new place of honor in my kitchen. Cleans up just like an immersion blender too!
