I remember being told tartar sauce wasn't white.

I mentioned the ONLY thing called tartar sauce at the grocery store was white mayo with sweet pickle relish in it.

She was a treat, wasn't she?

I'm Lost?????

Was blue tube pizza tonight. Rolled it out, Tina made the sauce, and we slapped it together, and baked it in the oven.

I have spent the last couple of weeks looking for new eyeglass frames that fit my face. I wear a child's size. Trouble is, most children's glasses have "Hello Kitty" or some other garbage on them. I am not really into pink or purple frames either. I finally decided to buy another pair of the little boys frames that I now wear except in a different color. Well, that was a wash. My vision has worsened and the lenses I need are not allowed to be used in the frame that I am now wearing. Chit! What the heck do I do now?

We are having Bloody Mary's and eggs benedict tonight. Our Benedict is a custom job. Toasted English muffins, a slice of American cheese, Honey Baked ham, bacon, fried eggs and hollandaise.

Sounds like it's time to get fitted for contact lenses.

I got stung by a wasp after swim exercise class yesterday. I saw the stupid thing coming at me and swatted it away as soon as it landed on my arm. A nano-second.

I put benedry on it as soon as I got home and it didn't seem to bother me at all.

I woke up this morning to a giant pimple on my arm and a raised red welt the size of a half dollar. Now it's starting to itch like crazy. The benedryl cream isn't helping at all.

You'd think I was 'sweet' the way I attract wasps!

Benadryl is for allergies. It is a histamine blocker. Wasps have venom which is a whole different animal. I am not sure what works for that. Try a cool compress. If the itching is from an allergic reaction, then Benadryl should help.

Sounds good. Eggs on English Muffins is good in my book of taste.

I was just telling Tina today, ...... I had vision cataract surgery done last year at a ritzy ditzy eye clinic specialist that does laser surgery.
Next door, was the optician where they fitted me with frames and lenses. All free through Medicare.

Now here I am with no cataracts but poor vision. Can't see close or far;
see like looking inside a tunnel, and my actual perception, is a Keystone picture.... Bad. Cannot judge space or distance while driving either.
My next exam, will be at a Walmart or Wherever I can get a discount deal.

Oh Lord .... What a bummer.
Equal part of vinegar and baking soda, make a paste, and rub on the sting area.
Aloe Vera Gel will sooth the itch.

My sister told me that to get 20/20 vision with cataract surgery, you have to pay $2500 more or they will just give you lenses that are as bad as what you originally had.

Sis was SOoooo Right. The Dr. told me he would give me the 2500.00 lens, if I wanted them, and they would let me see, but he said,
I don't thing you want to pay that! I'll get you close to seeing far if you don't mind wearing corrective lenses. ( Glasses )!

The way I see it, ( and no pun intended ), is because of my age, they treat me like I was a beast on the hook right after the split of the cranium with a ram rod. No time to think.

Bugster, I also have a very difficult time finding eyeglass frames to fit me correctly. Most of the adult sizes are too big for me, and my prescription.

I found an optician who is awesome. He carried the Diva Line of frames. These are made for petite heads... (Yup, petite head and large body!!! imagine..)

This guy can fit me perfectly. The ones I have now are: Just Cavell.. The frames are not expensive but the lenses are enormously expensive.

I am waiting for the new line of frames to come out, for new glasses. I need a new script, after having the same one for 3 years...and I do have very small cataracts in both eyes.

Jimmy, sounds to me that something else is going on with your eye site besides the cataracts... have you been tested for glaucoma or macular degeneration?  You need to get to the eye doctor.. Do not wait  for a special!! this is mandatory...

Vision is so important.. not to be taken for granted.

I have not heard that about cataract lens replacements. I did not know you had a choice of price range, thus vision range.. very strange.
I know a lot of people who have had the surgery, and not one of them mentioned the choice.. perhaps it is different around here, in Boston?? or because they are going to the Mass Eye and Ear??

Beth, I have been following you on FB, so I know how you fared during the hurricane.. I was worried about you... thankful, that all was pretty well....

I live in fear of getting stung by anything with a stinger.. If it does not go down in a day or 2, or becomes larger, I would definitely get to the doctor.

There is no way I am going to have cataract surgery and not get the best lens replacement. It is absolutely absurd to operate on some one's eyes and make them no better than they were. It is like getting a heart transplant and having the doctor tell you I can give you another bad heart but if you want a good, strong heart you will have to pay more. My vision is a minus 8.5 which means my lenses look like coke bottle bottoms. I wore contacts for 40 years till it got to be a PITA because I nap anywhere from 2 to 4 times a day and would have to take them out every time. Contacts are not comfortable to sleep in and you really shouldn't sleep in them. The optometrist thinks I will need surgery for cataracts in a year. My sister also had cataract surgery at the same age. Must be something in our genes. I have written down a list of eyewear places to visit. I have already been to 12. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't allow my lenses to be put in the frames I picked out. Didn't know they did that. My lenses cost a bloody fortune and depending upon the price of the frames they could cost anywhere from $500 to $1000. Does it ever end? I think I may have to sell my house to finance my healthcare.LOL.

I only found out recently about various grades of lenses for cataract surgery also. I don't need it............ yet, but my former neighbour had the surgery last year and she told me that she paid $100. for an upgrade from a "regular" lens.

Absolutely. We rarely have any out of pocket costs, including things like cancer care, chemo, MRIs etc. Friend is 72, surgery costs nothing, as well as any aftercare. The $100. upgrade gave her vision better than she had when she was 30.

I read that the backlog for a CAT scan was something like 18 months, and that people from Canada were coming to the states to get the scan done, which can be immediately. Having to wait that long could mean the difference between life and death. I hope the article I read was wrong. Probably written by someone who was against socialized medicine.

No cooking here tonight. Lyn & I drove to Sanford, FL to pick Barb up at the airport. We went to the German restaurant there for a late lunch.

Lyn had a wonderful reuban sandwich with homemade sauerkraut and very dill-y cucumber salad. I had a pork schnitzel and potato pancakes with the same cucumber salad.

So, I'm stuffed and I'm happy not to have to think about any cooking. Dane just got done heating up some leftover chicken and vegetables so he's happy.

The backlog for anything depends on the urgency. That is decided by the doctor and hospital. My sister had a problem last week, and her doc ordered an MRI.................... it was done in 48 hours.

I fell a few years ago and "destroyed" my ulna................. I had an Xray in the emerg........... and was in the OR a few hours later. People who go to the US to have procedures done, have more money than brains, and their situation is not life threatening, and they don't want to wait. That's ok with me. Whatever is life or limb threatening goes to the front of the line. Anything considered elective will have to wait until the people with a real emergency get looked after. I waited three months for my gallbladder surgery, and I'm perfectly fine with that. If my gallbladder would have burst, I would have gone to the front of the line.

If our local system is overwhelmed and there is a real emergency, our people are occasionally sent to Niagara Falls or Buffalo NY and our healthcare will cover that also.

My son broke his collar bone when on a vacation in California............... Basically the first thing he was asked was "And how will you be paying for this???" It was $1700 for the exam in the emerg and an Xray. He had a good Visa card and good out of country insurance so he got his money back eventually, but if the same thing happens to some poor schnook who has no insurance in California, how does he come up with that $$$$$ ???

Dinner was in the Instant Pot/slow cooker mode. It was a pork stew with green chilis, onions, apples and lime juice. I took the picture without the broth because I thought it would look better. Apples float, pork doesn't. We added the broth before we ate it."September 2017" "What's for Dinner?" - Page 8 20170911

My nephew fell and broke something. My sister took him to the ER. The bill was $28,000.

I am of the opinion that medical care is a right, not a privilege. So, there is a lot to be said for socialized medicine. No one should have to pay those kind of fees. My BIL says you get glommed because the poor can't pay for care so the hospital and doctors get very little from the gov't and they have to figure out how to make up the difference. Sort of like insurance companies: you can bet that everyone will be paying for the latest hurricane damage, not just the people that got wiped out.

I had a butter burger. Tina went on a mission, in PA, to show my cousin how to make a tomato sauce with pork steaks, sausage, and meatballs.
Tina threw a pack of ground beef in the refrigerator for me to make a burger if I wanted to.
I SURELY DID.... Shhhhhh!! don't tell, but I made a super cheese / butter burger.
I did my own thing; after not being able to find Beths post on how to make HER Butter Burger. I believe it was Beth who made them, and I could be wrong!

I made two thin, ( really thin ) burgers, added the cheese on the one side, and then took.....(Please dont tell Tina ) ....three of those little butter pats from Mcdonalds, that were left over from the big breakfast the other day. and lidded the other burger over top of that.
OMG.... as I took that first bite, the butter juice squirted out the side, but I licked it up really quickly. The butter was still cold from the fridge, and It made it twice as good.

I think I am going to have to try that Jimmy. I need to gain some weight.

I made a list this morning of optometric offices near me. I thought I would start at one end of the city and work my way down. I didn't have to as it turns out. I found some acceptable and expensive titanium frames that are supposed to work with my lenses and in my size (childrens). Only cost me $630.00. Same price as Lens Crafters with a discount and cheaper frames. Still, $630 is outrageous but what can you do?

I made a small beef fillet and a stir fry of onions, leftover rice and peppers for myself. Of course, the beef would have been soooo much better grilled, but I'm getting pretty good at doing them in a frying pan. A pan fried fillet is better than no filet in my opinion! LOL

Sounds so good Niagra. I haven't had a filet in years. My husband decided filets had a livery texture and taste and won't eat them any more. Little does he know that the occasional porterhouse I grill for him is half filet.
