Good idea Beth. Would you believe, we haven't had any zucchini this year.

We just cleaned up. Roast beef Roy Rogers on buns with the juices for dipping just hit the spot..The kids all raved over Tina mommy's meat balls.
I had a great dads day.

I split a chicken breast, seasoned & floured ~ sauteed in olive oil. Then turned it all into a nice chicken parmesan with some 'fresh' mozarella and homemade marinara.

Pan fried catfish and a salad for me tonight.

I'm confused about the heat. My daughter lived in Huntington Beach CA and they didn't need AC in the house. Is that because they were only two blocks from the Pacific?

When Charlie and Cassie got back from Las Vegas, they took me to the Woodyard BBQ for dinner. It is a place that started out supplying wood to other BBQ restaurants for their smokers and to people who use wood at home and at contests. After a while, they started serving their own food and have a reputation of their own now. They have been on TV shows by Guy Fieri, Anthony Bourdain and recently by Andrew Zimmern. Here are two views from the back yard. One of the wood yard and the other is the entrance. Cassis and Charlie told me the last time they were there, they had live music and lines out the door. It was quiet when we were there but it was late for lunch time and early for dinner.

I lived in Newport Beach and there were only about 4 days out of the year when we needed A/C and that was only the upstairs because heat rises. When we moved inland 10 miles, my cats didn't know what happened to them. They are Persians and had thick, long coats. There is a 20 degree difference. The first week we were here, the cats started molting. I would get up in the morning and find these 6-inch diameter dust bunnies of cat fur floating around on the floor. I started combing them and had enough fur to knit 4 sweaters. From that point on, I give my cats a haircut every summer. They look like someone with Parkinson's disease took a weed whacker to them.

That is one thing I have not mastered: the at of smoking. Maybe someday I will buy a decent smoker.

FYI: Got an email. Thermapens are 20% off today only on their website. Great price.

DH and Roomie went to Santa Monica seafood. I have no idea what they will bring home for dinner. For me it will be leftover pasta salad and chicken.

It looked like it was going to pour down on us, which would be a good thing...we really need the rain (Barb, you could send some my way....). So, I decided to get the pork steaks grilled quickly, therefore, an early supper.

No rain. It just broke apart and floated away. The temperature did drop about 15 degrees, which was good, but I sure wish it would have given us a typical 20 minute downpour to help green up the lawn.

As we were eating Dane mentioned he no longer likes the pork steaks.....too much fat for his taste. So, I guess I'll buy a package of (tasteless) boneless pork loin chops for him to have and I'll save the less expensive, better tasting pork shoulder steaks for me.

Looks good to me, but I know what Dane is getting at. Too much to cut off the meat from the fat. Maybe you can get him Ham steaks.
I remember you made them a couple of times.
I like pork steaks, but braised a long time with onions...then add the potatoes last 1/2 hour or so of cooking. That way, the fat just melts off the meat.

I like the flavor of the fat. Of course, that could be why I'm always trying to lose 20 - 80 pounds....

Our lawn IS dead. We cut back to watering 2 times a week to avoid fines and now we have a dead lawn. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We can't lay new sod cause of the drought and we can't afford artificial turf. I am waiting to get warning letters from the HOA.
