I imagine there will be a bit of pickin' a little of this 'n that ~ mainly a ham sandwich ~ later this evening.  Boy, it's been ages since I cooked a ham.  It really tasted good to me.

We are all done with the Easter feast...and now DD and I are knifing pieces off the ham!

Yup ~ looks like a 'belly buster' meal for sure!

Take a nap in the chair and then, when you are awake again you'll be ready to snack.

Easter Dinner turned out to be a big deal. There are lots of pictures so I'll save a lot of time and just post the site where they are already posted. We had ham, greens, navy beans, sweet potatoes, corn bread muffins, povitica bread, pineapple upside down cake with rum spiked whipped cream.

I have made povitica in the past but the one we had today was store bought. Walnut is the traditional nuts used but I prefer to make it with pecans. The recipe posted on my site was copied by my mom around 1950. She asked for the recipe and was told it wasn't written down. She was invited to sit in the kitchen while it was being made and wrote down the recipe.

Hassleback sweets! Now that is something that I have never had nor thought of. I am definitely going to have to give that a try. Where did you find your recipe?

Nice boid, Barb....I always say, nothing is finer than a well roasted chicken.

No cooking here tonight. We sat at the VA Clinic for too long this afternoon at a hearing clinic....boring. So we went down the street to the local country club restaurant and I had fish & chips (excellent) and he had liver & onions (ewwww ~ but he said it was really, really good).

Tonight we picked. I had some chili over spaghetti. Boiled the skhetti's the NORM Method! In the frying pan in shallow water. It works great, and the water boils so fast, and I find no difference boiling spaghetti in a shallow pan, or a large pot.

Tina had just a little potato salad, and then I had some kielbasi with hot mustard and I nibbled on home made sweet bread.

Tina was in a sorrowful mood today. We had to put Chestnut (10 year old kitty) down today!
Kidney Failure.

I am so sorry for your loss Jimmy. I have had to put some of my cats down for the same reason. It is never easy.

Thanks bugster... I tried to explain to Tina that he was suffering just by staying still in a corner, and not drinking water for 5 day's or eating for 3 weeks. She then understood.

It's never easy, and never cheap! $125.00 to say night night and go sleep forever.

Probably $12.00 for 5ml of phenobarbital! and $0.87 for a syringe!

I'm also sorry to hear of your loss.  Our last dog died three years ago, and I still miss her.  I have one staying with me for a while, though. "Mellow" a yellow Lab, and her human Robin are living in my place for a while.  Mellow is soooo mellow, and real good therapy for me!  I love big dogs with great floppy ears!  Smile

Oh, Jimmy, tell Tina how sorry we all are. And I'll bet we've all been through the same decision, too. I had to decide with my beloved B.C. (the best 'boxtriever' ~ boxer/retriever mix) and with our 17 yr. old cat, Skeeter.

The worst was the card from the vet telling me I did the right thing and to be proud of eliminating the suffering. Man, I still remember that sympathy card.

Does it say anything about me that I don't recall any really special sympathy cards when family members passed away?
