( It's a Brand New Month ) "OCTOBER" of 2013

Been up all night cooking -- banana bread, sour cream blueberry pie, meat loaf and Mexican Soufflé and getting ready to put some chicken in the crock pot to debone and shred for a couple of casseroles.

It's not even 9:00 am ~ and look at us !

Up and going and breakfast done.....We're all crazy people !

Retired people are suppose to take it easy.....and here we are, cooking, planning on cooking, thinking about cooking, eating, snacking, etc., etc.

No breakfast here.  I have been trying to get my firefox to work for 3 hrs.  

Maggie bit me again I am so pissed at her.She is mad about something.
She gets right under my feet then stops to sit down & when I step on her she bits me. Last week on my toe & that sucker bleed like crazy..
I was giving her flea meds,her yeast med,her zertec mashed up with peanut butter.Holding Molly off with one hand while she licks off my finger & she thought Molly was getting it IDK but she bit my finger. 
She has started up with rubbing her back on the chair rungs again.She moves the chairs all over the place.I called the vet for prednisone & she won't give her anymore,says it is bad for her.well duh she had no issues giving it to her for the past 4 yrs.Off & on. I am at my wits end with her scratching.. 

Dinner I have no idea.Lunch I have no idea.I will open the freezer & see what falls out.At this point in my day I could care less about dinner.

I had another great meat buy on Sunday morning early. $!24.meat.For $58.21.plus that also was for 2 russets,pack of bacon,roll of Jimmy Dean,4 packs of gravy mix..

maybe I will have a rib eye,grilled & a stuffed tator.

she would not allow that . She rules this house. Heck she won't even let me give her bath anymore.

Check that Caesar guy's web site - The Dog Whisperer thingy. I'll bet he has some good advice for dealing with an older dog who thinks she rules the house.

I have used some of his ideas with my dog and it does help. He doesn't bark as much and will stop when I tell him too except when delivery men are on the porch, then he becomes Cujo. He's like a maniac and unstoppable. I had enough last week and gave him a little swat on his haunch with a rolled up newspaper (just got it off the porch) and he took off and stayed quiet and hunkered down for awhile. Then he sheepishly came up and licked my hand to make-up. First time I ever swatted him but I was on my last nerve.

I'd say something was wrong healthwise but you seem to have a personal relationship with your vet LOL

I went over to Lyn's to grill out for her and Bill ~ I think I'm their short order cook.....

The only thing we ALL had the same was a nice salad.

Bill had a filet of beef and corn - he was suppose to have red beets that I cooked on Monday for him but he ate them for a snack as we discovered when we looked for them in the refrigerator!

Lyn had a rare grilled tuna steak, grilled zucchini, beet greens & broccoli.

I had panko crusted cod, grilled zucchini, beet greens & broccoli.

The timing of cooking everything on the grill is like a dance - and when it works, it's wonderful!

(tonight everything was done exactly as I had hoped ~ phew!)

What's really funny is Lyn seldom cooked at home during the week before I got here. For some reason she thought if she was going to cook she had to fix one thing for the two of them.....and Bill is pretty picky about what he wants. She loves fish ~ he hates it. He loves burgers & steak & lots of carbs ~ she avoids carbs because of her b/s levels and does better keeping red meats to a minimum due to cholesterol. Right now they are both on a modified Zone eating plan to balance things out and lose some weight.

So I've been trying to teach her the timing of cooking for the two of them. Monday night she made a couple boneless/skinless chicken breasts in the toaster oven, cooked a good size sweet potato in the microwave to split, reheated the red beets (he LOVES them, she doesn't....) for Bill and she made a big salad to divide. So she's really learning they don't have to have the exact same meal, just a few adjustments for different tastes and then they don't go out as often.

Man, oh, man ~ I will be SO happy when I finally get the rest of MY stuff down here to the villa. I am so tired of planning to make something and finding I don't have all the equipment I need. Tonight the missing piece was a muffin tin. I bought paper liners but when I went to the cabinet all I had was the mini-muffin pan.

Oh well, when life gives you a forgetful brain you punt ~



They ain't "pretty" but the taste is still the same....besides, these are Jiffy corn muffins and they're just for ME 'cause I'm super hungry for them.



Now for the important part:

Tonight's dinner inspiration came from.......

I've been hungry for chili since HE made some last week. It may not be cold weather here (was in the 90°'s today) but nothing else sounded good. So, thanks, Jimmy! My hat's off to you!

I make cornbread in a CI skillet, moot point lol

I have had chili on my mind too,even tho I like it to be cool out.

white chili. I have never made it,but I have seen several recipes just this week.
