Just bought a cast iron Lodge for Tina. No color or coating. 7 Quart for $54.00 Amazon.

I am hoping it works ok!

I know Lodge's enameled cast iron pots are good because I own one. I would think your Lodge might need seasoning.

I want a enameled due to making acidic foods. Not enameled coated, I have plenty of them and they are hard to clean and burn easy.Plus they are aluminum.

My 2 enameled are just awesome and so easy to cook in and to clean. I just want a bigger one to make sauce, soups and roast and other things.. Not made in china...

Ours was enameled but it has a big chip on the bottom inside. It's a Lodge red outside 6 quart.

The one I bought is supposed to be preseasond.

I've got a big pot of bean soup cooking right now. Supper is a work in progress.....

So ~ who's like me and continually 'tests' the beans as they cook because you LIKE the un-cooked legumes, especially when they have that meal-y, potato-y feel & taste?

I used a bag of mayacoba beans and when they get cooked through I'll add a quart jar of Randall's (cooked) Navy Beans with all the liquid in the jar.....that 'jellied' bean stuff. Completes my soup!

My bean soup was 'missing something'.....I'm hoping the sprigs of fresh thyme I just added are the taste I'm looking for. It also needs some 'heat' but I think I'll wait and use a pepper sauce (like a Tabasco or Chili Paste) at the table so I can gift some of the soup to the neighbors.

Hmmmm, and maybe I should check the pantry to be sure I have a box of Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix to have with our bowl of soup tonight.

I would go crazy without my pantry ~ even though it's not huge, it is easy to see most everything on open shelves and I have my spices on racks from ceiling to practically the floor on either side of the door. I've been in friends' kitchens and all their supplies have to be kept in kitchen cabinets. I suppose you might get use to it, but I've had a dedicated storage for cooking supplies/ingredients for as long as I can remember.

As per my suggestion.... Tina has a big big pot of sausage and meatballs cacciatori cooking. Gonna feed the neighbor and two boys next door whilst his wife is away on business in Texas.

I've been busy keeping tabs on the siding guys that are doing the siding on the house. They are all finished, and next they just have to install the shutters. Then clean up all the garbage and run the magnet over the lawn and driveway to pick up the nails and screws that will find their way into the car tires.

Our main pantry is in the hallway closet to the bath and three bedrooms upstairs.
It's not a big house; just a modest 40 foot No Frills Bi-level

Even the door has one of those racks hahahaha from Harriet Carter gift catalogue.

The laundry room downstairs is loaded with foodstuffs as is one whole wall of the garage.

Bean Soup is always best after it's cooled down and then reheated.....but that didn't stop Mr. Amazing from 'taste testing' TWO bowls earlier this afternoon and having two bowls for supper....
