Some of you know that I used to do cooking TV segments all the time. Since I've moved, my business is on hiatus.

Over the years one PR person has bugged me to do something that I was always hesitant to say yes to. Today, I said YES.

I'll post the information when I can, but it's a local Arizona station. I gave up my DVR so I'll have to see if I can get it off their website.

We did the show today. I was very nervous but she had enough things in her pantry/fridge that I was able to do some really nice things. The videos are on Facebook. I'm trying to figure out how to get the videos here. Watch this space!!!

I tried that. There are 2 videos and when I copy the address, they are both the same. I'll putz later. Otherwise you can like my Simply Impressive Cooking School on facebook. They are on that page, too.

Stewed okra...as we would say in my kitchen....."interesting"

But the rest of the meal was fantastic. Good job. You really lucked out with such a well stocked pantry. I would imagine it could be a bit more challenging with someone who did not shop so well, didn't have anything in the way of fresh stuff. My DD use to have nothing but a freezer full of prepared things like Hot Pockets, frozen burritos, chicken nuggets, etc. she's doing much more now, but it use to be a real challenge for me when I would stop to fix supper for her and couldn't find any meat that wasn't precooked and breaded in some coating.

The segments were great! .... Okra, I never had till Tina and I went to New Orleans.
Since then, I love it. I always add it to my seafood gumbo, and also to beef veg soup. Umm!

You're a better man than me, Jimmy!  I've tried and tried with okra and it's not one I can do.

OK, so, Fried Okra is pretty good, but it's not something you can get just anywhere.

I considered fried okra but there wasn't enough time to do that. Also, I don't think she had much oil in her house. She had a lot of kid-type junk and I was afraid that's all she was going to have. Whew!!!

Tina gets it frozen, and in soups it's great.
Fresh is good, but cutting it causes a drippy mess within a minute.
You gotta work fast. Really Fast!

Now I finally knew what those little tiny flat brown things are in Campbells
Vegetable or Vegetable beef soup. As a kid, I could remember picking out the little seeds from Okra, and even Mom would say they are just little miniature beans. I believe she didn't even know what they were.

LOL you beat me to it. I was just fixin to say that.That also was when Paula Deen was great,then it went downhill.

That was nice to watch Judy.

If I didn't like okra or grits I would be thrown out of the south.Razz I am already on the list,,,I HATE Sweet Tea....


oh BTW Oprah had a time when she went to folks houses & asked what was for dinner,That was so funny..

I remember door knock dinners. That's what they originally called this, then they changed it to chef takeover Guess there were copyright issues. I would have loved to see Oprah knocking on my door.
