Tonight.....we are having Chili with beans over rice.
Brunch was macaroni and cheese. I ate like a cup cooked. We had a box of the cheese powder kind. Heck.....it satisfied me and Tina.
It's a nice sunny day, but it's only 27 F degrees out. Definitely a chili day!

I remembered from the last time you had steaks that Charlie like mac and cheese with his steak! Your squash stuffing looks delicious too -- I made a similar stuffing recently which I put in roasted poblano peppers except it also had chorizo in it. Delicious!

Laughed, Lore! I was 23 when I met Brian, who was 30. We still laugh that when I found out he was 30, I told my friend that I liked "older" guys. We laugh today that I thought 30 years old was "older."

And we STILL laugh that our generation's mantra was not to trust anyone over 30...

We took Smidge to the vet, had an x-ray and blood work. they found a tumor so we are having Smidge put down. Losing both of our cats within a coupls is hard. Smidge was suffering so we know it was the right thing to do. Now I have to go to the doctors today and get referrals to some specialists. Not a good day at all.

Oh, Bugs, I'm so sorry about your Smidge. I know it's hard but know, in your heart, it's the most loving thing you can do.

I took the time to simmer the bones of the rotisserie chicken with carrots, celery & onion and a bit of thyme from my patio pot. That WalMart chicken is such a value if you take a little time to use it all. We got a meal from it when I first picked it up, Dane had two lunches and I made chicken noodle soup from the last of it. I even threw together some noodles. Dane had two bowls with crackers and I had mine with a couple toasted slices of the seedy bread I bought at Whole Foods. I still have two slices left in the freezer. Homemade chicken noodle soup is the ultimate of comfort food.

I put the wine, garlic and butter sauce that you mentioned putting on your steak.

Supper was supposed to be chili, but with DD cooking for the crew in Philly tomorrow, the kitchen is well used. We had scrambled eggs and muffins instead.

Sorry to hear about Smidge. I took Charlie's cat to the vet today. He didn't eat anything Sat. or Sunday and was hiding all day yesterday. The decided he was dehydrated. He is feeling better now. He is 20 , years old so every time he acts sick, we get worried.

Smidge and Noogie were both 12. I can't imagine having a 20 year old cat. I hope your kitty has a few more lives left, Norm. We feel "childless" now even though there are Katie's cats still in the house.

Domestic shorthairs have the advantage over purebreds - hybrid vigor. Their genes are better - no mutations from inbreeding. That is probably why he has lived so long.

Surprise! No cooking here tonight.

Actually, neighbors Pearl & Shorty stopped by yesterday to invite us over for pizza tonight along with another couple, Don & Marilyn. Pearl is the sweetest lady. She knows I'm going crazy in this mess.

I'm sorry to read all about your pets. I miss having a pet, but really don't want one any more. I was used to barn cats that were very, very friendly and people oriented, and dogs (big ones) who were used to running around on 15 acres, and I could not have either cat or dog that if confined to an apartment. I did see the biggest dog I've ever seen today at Home Depot. A beautiful soft grey Great Dane named Oliver. I love big dogs, love to hear the deep WOOF WOOF! We can have pets here, but max. size is 22 pounds. To me, that's a small puppy! LOL

I have chicken thighs and a sweet potato in the oven. Will steam some broccoli to go with those also.

I made chili with beans, and mini rigatoni with fried onions and kidney beans. Tina played ambulance driver this morning.
Her uncle Elmer called at 8:15 am, telling Tina please hurry to take him to the hospital. He was bleeding two days . Poor Tina said to call 911, but he said, "They don't know how to lock the doors!"
Any way.... All is well and in good hands. They suspect Diverticulitis.
He had the same thing a year ago ( according to hospital records )
Tomorrow they will probably do a colonoscopy! Do the repairs, and send him home.
Hopefully!

Yes, mozzarella is a cheese I can eat ~ as long as it's melted. I don't care for it when it's cold.....a texture thing, for sure.

I have a twin pack pork tenderloin. I will do one into medallions, add carrots, celery diced, and zucchini, and serve it with rice.

I saw a recipe on allrecipes.com for Cabbage Jambalaya that sounded good. It was OK but nothing I'd make again. I should have added some spicy peppers to it, knowing we both prefer a bit of spice. But it was a home cooked meal and better than carry out again.

There will be no cooking here ~ probably not tomorrow, either. They chipped away at most of the rest of the white porcelain tile in the kitchen & entry way.

WHAT A MESS. I cannot believe how much dust there is. Oh, I knew there'd be lots of dust but it's overwhelming. There's nothing to be done but to wait for it to all be over. We covered the cabinets & appliances but I know they're covered with a fine mist of icky dust.

But it will be done soon. I know that. I just need to whine and get it out of my system.

LOL

When I bought my condo, I thought about getting rid of the ceramic tile in my entrance, hallway, the kitchen and two bathrooms because it's beige and boring. But, there's a little bit of grey in it.   Then I thought about the dust, and decided that I would learn to like the tile.  So, when I decided to remove the old beige carpet in the living/dining area and replace it with hardwood, I found a wood that has both beige and grey in it, and it looks nice. Painted the kitchen cabinets a dark grey, and the walls a very pale grey.  Accent colours are black and red.

If I had an extra $30,000 lying around I would get myself all brand new appliances in bright red!

Supper was a repeat from yesterday's pork tenderloin medallions.

It tasted better with applesauce today. I forgot to serve apple sauce yesterday.

My sister moved into her remodeled home in July. The remodeling took 2 years. She is still moping up dust. She can't understand where it is coming from.

A few months ago, we had the walls repaired, and ceilings patched where there were holes from 4 big speaker mounts.
My neighbor did the work, and we set up 2 big fans in the windows, and they suctioned out the dust that was made from the sanding and smoothing process.
Haaa..... It was funny, because the grass was tainted white in spots from the dust.
I just wetted it down with the water from the hose, and it washed out of site.
