Yeah! Some days, she can eat something, and have no problem. Then, the next day she can eat it, and have such a miserable time.

I'm dealing with Brian having no appetite again. And lite chemo hasn't even started. Trying to get him to try snacking on and off throughout the day but it's like herding cats to try to get him to do what's best for himself. He does seem to have an appetite for candy and sweets, though...

I feel bad for anyone who's not in the mood to eat. It's what consumes me all day, every day.

Like today ~ turned on my coffee pot this morning and the first thing I did after was open the freezer to see if anything looked good for supper. I had to move a piece of ham to see what might be below it and decided since I was already touching it, ham would be for supper.

Actually, we both enjoyed it a lot.

When I was at Wal Mart the other day I saw these Entemann's Pound Cakes ~ little individually baked/wrapped ones. I spied them and suddenly got hungry for a personal strawberry shortcake for an evening treat. They're just the right size to dump some sliced strawberries over and then splash with some milk ~ OK, so don't go 'Ewwwwww', it's the way I like it. If you were here you could make it anyway YOU wanted. LOL

Ham and cakes....what a treat Beth.
Gotta try some of those mini pound cakes

Made the city chicken today. Had a great DIL's celebration for her birthday.
I made 34 city chicken on the sticks. I had Tina help bread them when I pooped out.
I got so fatigued. I'm glad everyone enjoyed them.

City chicken....bringing back the 1960's!

Do you make them with pork & veal chunks or ground meat?

Boy, it's gonna be a long hot summer. I'm already pullin' straws trying to come up with ideas for meals that don't require much work or heat. (It's actually beautiful weather here, but today I just wanted to do a test run of a summer salad meal.....)

I think I saw something on a cooking site that set my mouth for one of those Oriental Ramen Salads ~ all the rage a few years ago. Usually it makes way too much for two people so the only time you get one is if there's a Pot Luck or BBQ Get Together with a lot of people. It's not one of those salads you can hold over ~ gets soggy and that equals "ICKY".....

But, I split the package of Broccoli Slaw and only used half the ramen noodles. Dane probably won't be jumping for joy but we'll probably have a repeat in less than a week to use the rest. I don't think it's good with anything else.

What bugged me was I went to the store to just get ONE package of Chicken Ramen Noodles. Winn Dixie had them on special this week ~ 6 in a pack for $1. Yup, a buck. But what in the world am I ever going to do with 5 more packs of that wretched stuff? I only wanted the noodles. I don't use the 'chicken seasoning pack' that's included.

Maybe I'll use the opportunity to go through my pantry and make a drop off at the food pantry. I must surely have something decent to offset the nasty noodles. And I'll have to wear a wig and sunglasses so I don't get recognized,,,,,

I just did chicken chunks again.....easy and quick. Tossed 'em on top of the mixed salad and said, "Supper's on!"

1/2 pork and 1/2 veal. Ground meat.
My 1960's made it with chunks of pork and veal. Since it was a turnoff to hit fat and grizzle, Ground was better.

The seasoning was salt pepper, and a dusting of onion powder.

Did you know this was 'invented' during a time that CHICKEN was more expensive than pork & veal? I think I read it started in New York City and chickens were not easy to come by. So the inventive cooks threaded chunks of pork & veal on wooden sticks & breaded to resemble a chicken leg, something of a luxury meal...…

((yet another of that 'worthless' information that clutters up my brain ~ ~ if only I could remember where I put my keys....sigh.....))

Angle hair with meat sauce. ( ground beef )

Shepherds Pie.

And a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream icing.

The kids came over, and we sang happy birthday ( today's official day ) of DIL's birth. 48 y/o.

That's the story on the city chicken.... yup!
Veal and pork, were less expensive back then.
And pork was seasonal. Only in the fall, and never in the summer.
The trichina worm would get us! affraid

* remember when I lost my glasses? They were on the garbage can covered with leaves.

I saw some lamb at the store and decided I'd try to make chislic.  My friend in Junction City who built the castle island had chislic parties a few times a year. Charlie said it was delicious and like Don's.  We had it with snow peas and corn.APRIL 2019 ...What's Cooking?? - Page 7 20190424

Forgot to mention this!
The other day, we had Maggi Spaetzle with the haddock fillet.
We boiled them beyond the recommended 25 minutes.
They were like bullets. Tina said, "No more, I will make them from scratch.
Tina saved them, and today ( about after 4 days ) fried onions in a little oil and butter, then added the spaetzle and cooked them, and they were nice and soft. That was the trick. I guess?

Spaetzle shouldn't take 25 minutes to cook. 10 minutes should do it, otherwise they become mush.

Not much cooking going on in my house. Busy with sister and medical appointments, and just "Hanging out." Her cancer has spread to her pelvis.

News Flash !!!

Dane actually made a suggestion for supper when I asked him this morning if he had any ideas.....

He said, "Mexican" ~ ~ ~ and I turned that into tacos and guacamole. Well, HE had soft tacos and I had a put together taco salad (because there were only 3 flour tortillas in the drawer and I didn't feel like going after any more).

Tina went to target, and on the way home, she picked me up a McD's double burger and cheese, and a small fries. It hit the spot.
Now I will have a nice piece of cake left over from yesterday, and a coffee.

We went to Charlie's favorite Korean restaurant.  We were both surprised that one of the side dishes was corn with cheese.

I tried to make pizza on the grill and it was a total fail. The bottom turned to carbon immediately. I guess I will go back to my oven method.
