Probably grilled cheese for us tonight. I had to make two cinnamon roll cheesecakes for a party tomorrow so I am cooked out. I wish one or the other DH or roomie would cook for me for a change or go out for some burgers.

We're on our way out to meet friends for a late supper. Lyn & I were on the go all day, had to take Barb to the airport in Orlando/Sanford for her flight back to Toledo. Lyn & I stopped at the Home Goods Store on the way home and had a ball walking around looking at everything.

Oh, that's funny. That was one of the things my hubby loved to do, pick the chicken carcass. Of course he was just snacking, not making anything with what was picked except to eat it. Yes, it is a painstaking process sometimes, but the meat makes great leftovers.

You wouldn't want me to pick the chicken! I pick it up, and drop it in a big tray, and whatever falls off....is picked!
Tina says,"Oh! Look at all that meat left on there, and starts picking it herself!" ..... With my method, she takes over, and I just walk away from that task!"....
It's just like Carving or cutting. I excused myself from carving since I slice and carve like a guillotine!

I just had a late lunch of some yummy bean soup made with ham a couple of days ago. Have some huge scallops defrosting which will be in my stir fry for dinner.

Yup....those are the dumplings I recognize. Southern dumplings are a whole 'nuther creature, more like a flat, thick noodle (IMO) than those light pillows we grew up on. My mom use to make a meal for herself of a pint jar of home canned stewed tomatoes and dumplings. It was her ultimate comfort food.

I saw some nice center cut (AKA Porterhouse Pork Chops - lol) chops at the store today and decided my leftover butternut squash would be perfect with pork. The squash casserole couldn't have been easier because the squash itself was super sweet. I just reheated it enough to mash, added some butter and s&p and then sprinkled it with some leftover buttered/toasted panko crumbs.....into the toaster oven to heat through and it tasted like effort was used to create the side dish. Love stuff like that!

Dane's been asking for bean soup....gotta do that for him soon since you've reminded me. Your stir fry sounds good.

My mother was from Texas. Her dumplings were yummy balls of dough not noodles.

Never had them with flat dumplings. I love those dough balls. My DH can't stand them so he picks them out.

I think Germany has as many different dumplings as France has cheeses. I don't like any of them. At least not any that I have tried.

My mom made the biscuit dumplings (fluffy balls) and that is the kind I like best. Cassie's mom made the noodle dumplings and that is what she expects when someone says dumplings. I have made both as well as spaetzle with sauerbraten. J like all three but much prefer the biscuit kind is better with chicken

We like those potato dumplings, Panni... The Bavarian box mix. I make them smaller than they say to roll them on the recipe directions.

If there are No Dumplings, and I want some, I will take regular American sliced bread, and with each slice, form it into a ball, and squeeze the livin heck out of it to form a wad of dough.
Then I drop them in my soup like lead balls.
Tina said to me,"You have 6 balls of bread dough in that soup, do you realize that is 6 slices of bread?"
I just love bread dough balls!! LOL

Cooked those pork chops today.  They marinated in apple cider, cider vinegar and brandy overnight.  We also had baked potatoes, asparagus, cranberry chutney and for dessert we had fresh pineapple and home made egg nog

Norm for some reason, I cannot see your picture..

I am having a pork chop tonight----copy cat!!

I am just sautéing it with some Penzey's Krakaw nights seasoning.\
Having it along with a baked potato and some plain, cooked baby carrots...

Easy meal, but I did have to attend a wake this afternoon...so a late supper...
