Oh brother! Did I get a doozy scam call today. The caller ID said private. It was a really bad connection and the girl on the other end had a heavy Indian accent. She told me she was calling from the U.S. Treasury Department. Right... She further informed me that the TD was giving me $8,400.00 and I didn't have to pay it back. The reason being of my paying my bills on time etc... To get the money they needed my bank account info and social security number and something else that I could understand. OK. Right. I told her that I think the gov't needs it more than me and I want to donate the proceeds to help pay off the US debt. Goodbye.

I wonder if it is the same people that have been calling me to tell me I have a virus on my computer but don't know my computer ID#.

We used to get about 12-16 solicitation calls a day. It took me a while to "train" Brian once he retired NOT to answer the phone if we didn't know who was calling (especially "private," which I never answer). I told him they'd stop calling if we don't answer (we have no machine or voicemail so it just rings and rings; we can turn off the ringer for each call).

Now we get about 3 to 5 a day -- still a PITA but a much smaller one.
