I had a nice chuck roast I had planned to roast with potatoes, carrots & onions.....pure comfort food, for sure. When I mentioned it to DD she asked for the Italian beef sandwiches instead. Well, OK...that means all I have to do is dump it into the crock pot first thing in the morning, add 1/2 c. water, mix together the dry seasoning mixes (Italian dressing, Ranch dressing, Browon gravy) and let it cook for the whole day. This afternoon I pulled it out, shredded it with two forks and added some of the cooking liquid. I reheated the meat, toasted sub buns, melted mozzarella cheese on top and topped the whole she-bang with the moist shredded beef.
No one complained, no one said they were still hungry for a second sandwich and supper was done. Oh, I did have a nice cold, crisp salad and some chips along side. Love that recipe. So easy - no work at all.
