Nice meals Barb and Beth.

I just had 1/2 a Italian sub Tina got me in PA today. For dessert....it was 2 K K glazed doughnuts.
Then Italian biscotti. Then a German Rugala. There is all kinds of candy here too, but enough is enough. For now anyway!

Grocery store BBQ chicken for me today, local asparagus and a cold beer.  Temp inside is 85 for me, AC not working.

Are you guys growing all that fruit, Imelda?  I'd kill to see your garden as it sounds as if Dirk does a wonderful job -- you, too.  And don't even get me started drooling over what you do with your fruit!  You, too, can count that not only as part of your food budget but also your entertainment budget!

oh no, we don't grow those fruits, we have couple of citrus trees, some chili pepper plants, herbs and some flowers, we don't have a big yard, so all the trees crowded in our backyard.. it likes a small jungle, but that's what he wants, I don't want to bother him as long as he does not complain about my kitchen and my stuffs Laughing

That sauce is good on a lot of stuff....just a bit goes a long way because it's sweet, salty & spicy all at the same time. Best thing I did was cut back on the sugar and increase the spice. Your sausage rolls always look so good. I'll bet Dirk eats them for breakfast when they're in the house! (I would!!!)

********

Norm, it's been years since I've had chicken scallopini.....good stuff! Makes me think of the Chicken a la King....from the same era, I think. I love the old time recipes.

This is the first time I have made chicken scallopini. I used to soak beef in milk and pretend it was veal scallopini though.

Speaking of old time recipes.... Tina was in PA at her aunts house, where they are throwing out stuff to sell the house after she died.
Tina got some cook books. I'm looking at this one pillsbury from 1951.
Some great recipes baking... like "Peanut Whirligigs" from May, in Akron OH
Or...like this "Tomato Cheeserole Dinner"
Reading the recipe, it says " One #2-1/2 size can of tomato sauce"...??
2-1/2 size????? What the heck is that?? LOL

I'm trying to get the freezers cleaned out of 'saved' so I can 'save' some more. LOL

I saw the two casserole dishes of Chicken Parm and decided to thaw those out. I baked / dehydrated all the ripe tomatoes I had from our one plant on the patio this morning. I just de-seeded them, drizzled with evoo and sprinkled w/s&p and baked them at 275° until they were concentrated bits of goodness. I put the tomato halves around the dish on top of the pasta so it wouldn't get dried out as it reheated in the oven.

Mr. Amazing inhaled his (the man who asks me NOT to make pasta.....I think he may have been craving it ~ LOL) and he didn't turn up his nose when I said I couldn't finish mine, would he like to have it instead of me tossing it. He SAID he didn't want me to feel badly about wasting food.....

LOL

Fortunately it has cooled down to 86 today. Joe and Katie are at the beach. I made a sample size of turkey stroganoff. Milder than beef. I will feed it to them when they get home and see what they think.

OMG.... that is so funny the way you said "I will feed it to them!"

I could just picture you lading it in their bowls, in their cages, like at the zoo. hahahahahahahahahahahahA..... It just struck me funny.

Today was a Heck day. Worked on the blue car, changing the coolant thermostat.
The car came close to red line temperature when T was on way back from hair dressers.
The white car is due for brakes and rotors, so that sits waiting for me to wave my magic wand.

It wasn't too warm today, but I still set the pedestal fan next to me to cool me as I did my contortionist moves trying to access the part.

I had the other half of the sub sandwich from yesterday. A KK doughnut later.

Tina had meatballs and sausage with a tomato sauce she cooked for tomorrow.
The kids are coming for supper.

Wow! .... that's the way we like the potato pancakes also.
We bought some in the store that just gets mixed with egg, water, and oil.
They are not crispy. More like a sponge.

I flip mine over once when the underside is crispy, then put cheese on top of the crispy side.  Cheese melts by the time the bottom is crispy also.  Sometimes a little ketchup with it/them.
