It was an absolutely lovely day....beautiful sunshine, blue sky, temps in the upper 70's.
Perfect to grill burgers and clean out the vegetable drawer for a vegetable stir fry.

Ours has been $1 per ear....too much for a side (IMO).

Thank you! I forgot about Downton and Grantchester. Got to put a DVD in the recorder and snatch it before I forget again.
DH and roomie went to a Superbowl party just for the food. The person who is giving it always has her wings flown out from NYC. My gut is still giving me trouble so I passed but they are going to bring me a wing or two.
My DH and I are having a dishwasher war. We have lived in this house for 20 years with me usually doing the dishes and loading them in the dw. I have always had the baskets pointing in a certain direction so I can throw in and unload the cutlery easier. He has decided that the soap can't reach the cutlery well enough (the baskets are plastic mesh) so he thinks they should be turned around in the other direction. I have told him not to do that and why to no avail. He always turns them around. A power struggle of some kind going on here. If he keeps doing it I will tell him that I will no longer do dishes. Period.

Haaaaaaaaaaa..... bugs, We get in arguments over the dishwasher loading all the time.
It starts with spatula's with the handle poked into the bottom top shelf in a way that the spray arm hits the darn thing, and stops spinning.
Then, we have a cutlery basket, but they load the basket with a spoon with another spoon. They somehow spoon together, and I scream because the spoons do not get cleaned right.
Then sometimes there are two plates together. I just re-arrange the stuff, and wash it again.

No dishwasher complaints from here lately....he's been unloading it for me in the morning. As long as he keeps making the bed and unloading the dishwasher, I think I'll let him stay.....
We're going out for fish tonight ~ sure hope he reads this so it doesn't come as a big surprise at 5:30 when there's nothing on the stove.

Looks like meatloaf tonight. Tina threw one in the oven, and Good time I came in from outside; because the timer just went off. Tina went to pick up GD from work, and never told me the meatloaf was cooking.

Another foot of snow today!
I made the recipe Norm posted: John Madden's Beef Stew..
nice, warm comfort food for the snow and wind...
It came out really good. I gave some to a neighbor. She is very picky on just about everything...She said it was really good, also!! I was shocked!
It is real good...a keeper...thanks Norm..

she was pretty sure your nose would lead the way to the kitchen....even from outside! Glad you saved the day (meatloaf).

I just get container of lump..In the seafood area of Harris Teeter..$16.

I noticed the cup for the spinach. Can't have any spinach juice contaminating the meatloaf or potatoes.

Jimmy, I thought of you as Lyn & I walked through a huge Antique Mall today....considered purchasing a set of dishes for you:
They had a set of 8 diner divided dishes, the white glass ones with the green stripe around the edge. I know you would have loved 'em. They were a better size than the big plastic divided tray/plate you have.
I'll have to look on line and see if I can find a pic of what we saw. I know you'd recognize them as diner plates as soon as you saw them. This is close, but not exact to what I saw:

I soaked a bag of the HamBeanz beans last night so this morning I chopped up my onion, carrot & celery and got the pot going - used the last of my ham stock from the freezer as well as the packet of 'magic ham flavor' that comes in the bag of beans. I picked up a couple cans of canneloni beans to add near the end for a little difference in texture. Dane was in charge of stirring and chopping the ham to add when the beans were just about done.
It must be OK because his bowl has been rinsed in the sink 3 times and re-used in the time since I got home about 2:30. I think it's going to be lunch/supper.
