wish I had a suggestion for you....
since bacon seems to be so high priced I just purchase what ever is on sale.
Back home in Ohio I loved to get the Sugardale Peppered Bacon, thick sliced. But it's outrageously priced here in The Villages...only comes in a 12 oz. package.

If you want to order online, try Burgers' Smokehouse. They have have Applelwood Smoked Bacon, Maple bacon, City Bacon, Peppered Country bacon, Original Country Bacon, Bacon Steak Cuts, Country Ham Bacon, Second-cut Country Bacon. Online addy is smokehouse.com

Gwaltney apple-smoked bacon is very good, Barbara, but I really don't know of one that has a really heavy smoked flavor but we do like the Gwaltney brand. Hope this helps.

I personally like applewood smoked bacon. I usually buy either Niman Ranch or Farmland.
