Don't get me wrong....but Tina likes bready ( not a word ?) but I like celery, peppers, carrot grated , a little oatmeal, breadcrumbs.

Her loaf was good, and not greasy. But no flavor except from the stuffing package.
Leftovers / maybe once as a cold sandwich with mustard. Better....would be sliced and heated, over
some white bread, double decker, and loads of really thick brown beef gravy.

My reasoning for using salt... is 1-1/2 tsp per pound of beef. 2-1/2 tsp per pound of ground pork. Kosher salt that is.

Stir fry of mushrooms, asparagus and scallops for me tonight! Definitely three of my favourite things.

It is 97 at 3pm so we are going to grill some huli huli chicken and have the bacon deviled egg mac salad to go with it. Fruit for dessert. We have it good today because Palm Springs is supposed to be 113.

67 degrees today. Great relief after the 80's last week.
It's working great for me. Tomorrow the parts for my central A/C will be here.
I'll throw it all together, and we will be ready for the rest of the summer heat.

Hot dogs with chili sauce today.

Beth... I ordered 6 jars sweet hots...2 jars of Hungarian, long hot peppers, and two bottles of sweet hot ketchup, from Tony Packo's. Can't wait for them to arrive from Toledo.

OOOOHHH, that stroganoff looks great!  Love the noodles.

P.S. on edit................. I know that this is silly, and my children would absolutely agree, but, my hubby, their father, didn't like pasta.  So, for pretty well 50 years, I very rarely cooked pasta dishes.  I love pasta, he loved potatoes............ The things we do for those we love, right?  I like potatoes too!  Maybe I just got used to them, who knows?

Tina's uncle Bob, was a commercial roofer, and he was German.
He would come home from the heat on the roofs, and the hot tar roofing, and would ask for chicken soup. Never liked noodles, but he would take giant heaps of mashed potatoes, and drop them in the center of the soup. He never mixed it, and just ate the soup together with the potatoes. Beer ( lots of beer ) to wash it all down. LOL

When I was little, I think it was when mom was in the hospital having my sister, that dad made a mashed potato sandwich.

Familiar with that Norm.

My mom would take leftover mashed potatoes, stir green beans or peas into them, then make toast, and pile the potatoes and beans as a sandwich.

Imelda....here's the recipe. I have cut back on the original 1/2 cup of brown sugar called for in the recipe because we thought it was too sweet. Feel free to adjust any way you like. When I cook it on the outside gas grill I always use non-stick foil so it doesn't stick to the grill grates and make a giant mess. We like the sauce to get caramelized on the meat so that means it always sticks!

I also cut way back on the amount of sauce needed to marinate the chicken. I just takes a little bit and I kind of smush it around the chicken in a plastic bag a few times while it's marinating. Last time I made it I put at least 1/2 of the total sauce in a jar in the refrigerator and that's what I use for other meals.

Huli Huli Chicken

4 – 6 Boneless Chicken Thighs, cleaned of excess fat, cut into chunks
Sauce:
1/4 c. Brown Sugar
1/3 c. Ketchup
2 T. Dry Sherry (or Mirin)
1 ¼ t. Grated Ginger
½ t. Garlic Powder
½ t. Onion Powder
1 T. Garlic Chili Paste
1 T. Soy Sauce
½ t. Sesame Oil

Reserve 1/3 c. sauce for basting. Marinate Chicken chunks in sauce for 3 hours or overnight.
One half hour before grilling, drain marinate off chicken. Add 1 T. Canola oil and stir to coat. Grill over med-high flame on a piece of non-stick foil. After turned twice, baste with reserved sauce, allow to caramalize.
Serve with basmati rice.

We're going out for supper tonight. NOTHING sounds good to cook.....so I left it up to Mr. Amazing to decide and he decided it was time for someone else to cook.

Works for me!

LOL

Good for Mr. Amazing.  I thought I would try making shepherds' pie tonight, but I ran out of steam..... A salad with shrimp on top will be easier!

LOL Lore.....the shrimp salad sounds better, too!

I'm tired of 'winter' meals.....it's time for lighter fare.

We ended up at 'Outback Steakhouse'....I had a rib eye, he had salmon. We're both full and happy with our selections.

I always feel sorry for the servers when I order....not enough not to order what I want but I sometimes feel bad for them because my selection is rarely as listed. Like tonight ~ I ordered the rib eye, medium rare. But not on the wood fire, rather the seared. No house seasoning, just s&p please. Sides....salad without cheese, dressing on the side and a baked sweet potato with plain butter, not the sweetened honey/cinnamon butter.

And, surprisingly, everything came as ordered. I like that.

Charlie took me out for dinner tonight too. We went to Carrabbas. He ordered chicken wings and I ordered lobster ravioli and we split them.
