Yesterday we went to the beach.  It's Grandma's dream time because the water is too cold to swim in so I don't have to worry about a riptide dragging my grandchildren out to sea.  We went to the beach by Marineland on A1A, a small, uncrowded place where you don't have to walk a mile to get to the water.  There are great rock jetties to search for shells and sometimes starfish, etc.

And just about the time Grandma asks for Tori to turn around for a picture, a deep wave smashes into her legs!

Today the boys were going to go to the movies to see Batman vs Superman (it rained) so the girls went and got a pedicure and manicure!

I think they're leaving for Orlando tomorrow.  They'll spend the night and then do something fun, like go to Universal....there's a ton of stuff besides Disney to see and do there.  Then, Tuesday, they'll fly home to the cold weather.

Glad you had fun with your family, Beth.  Boy, they really did go back to some cold weather, too!

It has been gorgeous here lately -- sunny and mild with low humidity.  Will be picture perfect weather for the French Quarter Festival which starts tomorrow (uh, today I guess) and runs thru Sunday.  Tons of free music on many, many stages and lots and lots of food booths where you can usually buy sample size tastes or full size servings.

We won't be anywhere near there, though we do have a big company party (a vendor Brian used to do business with prior to retirement) -- crawfish boil and tons of all kinds of seafood -- that we'll go to on Friday.  I know most of the company principals, too, as they were young kids when Brian began working in the shipping (steamship) industry.  They had a 75th company anniversary party last year -- it's set up both outside (tents) and inside right on the Mississippi River -- and it was so much fun, they're doing it again this year.  The nice thing is there is free parking (lots of it) right near the venue on the river so we can drive right up to the dock and not have to walk very far.  They have a super band but you can get far enough away (place is huge) so you can still have a conversation and the band doesn't blow you out of the place.  Hardly anyone in the shipping industry has a party on a Friday (from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m.) as people tend to stay a very long time and get very wild.  We'll be the couple showing up early and leaving early.  They have every kind of seafood you can imagine, including charbroiled oysters, fried catfish and oysters, boiled crabs, crab appetizers, and tons more.  Even if I don't feel like picking crawfish, I will eat seafood like a pig while I'm there.
