I made the Apple Rose Pastry for Dane's sister, Cheryle, as a brunch treat:

I guess it's true - practice makes perfect (well, maybe not 'perfect' but a whole bunch better!)

Thanks.  They are getting 'easier' to make.  Now I think I'll make them for one of our patio parties to share.  It takes a bit of experience to figure out how many apple slices you'll need, how thick to slice them, how softened the apples need to be, etc.

I've made THOSE before (mine were minus the cheese, HIS with it). Great with cocktails or wine.

I wanted a salad for lunch but discovered I was out of lettuce so made one without.

nothin' wrong with that! Lettuce is just a 'filler' anyway. LOL

Don't you just get upset with yourself when you go to get something and realize it's not there? I go to the grocery store multiple times per week and STILL forget things that are on my written list.

Yeah. I also get upset with myself when I pick up something at the store then get home and find I already got that thing a day or two before.

I do that all the time, too. Right now I have 4 bottles of Worchestershire Sauce and 3 bottles of Soy Sauce in my pantry......
