We're hosting DD#1 and her family (Andrea, Jim, Joshua & Tori) for an early Christmas dinner. They'll arrive late on Friday night, we'll mess around on Saturday and have our Christmas Dinner on Sunday, the 24th. They will leave mid-day on the 25th to go to Flagler Beach for their family vacation so Christmas Day will be quiet here.
We're always happy to have some time to spend with one or both of our girls on Christmas. I always suggested they create their own holiday celebrations for their families instead of insisting they 'must' come to our house or host the family. I think young children (although now the grandchildren are no longer 'young') should be in their own home and get up for 'Santa Has Arrived' excitement. I always think the extended family celebrations can be any day of the year ~ not specifically on the 25th of December.
Andrea told me what to purchase so she can make her 'famous' Christmas cinnamon buns and 'real' milk chocolate. If we're lucky, she'll also make a batch of her 'Texas Roadhouse' dinner rolls.
We'll have USDA Prime rib roast, mashed potato casserole, broccoli/cauliflower/carrots with hollandaise sauce, green beans and Tori decorated Christmas cookies for dessert. Oh, we might just make a family favorite, Orange Jello Cabbage/Carrot/Pineapple salad ~ got to carry on the family traditions!
