Who (besides Barb....) is planning a May Day breakfast?

She's about the only one who regularly plans a healthy meal to start off her day ~ I always feel like such a 'Schlep' for wimping out and just doing coffee and toast.

So, what did I have today, you ask???

Coffee & Toast

I made Lemon Scones yesterday morning. They were delicious, especially when napped with the lemon icing made from confectioner's sugar that I made to go with them. Only change I'd make is to brush the tops with some heavy cream so they'd come out a little browner on top.

The best thing? Leftovers for this morning!

It's so nice having a new five burner stove with an oval griddle over the oval middle burner -- a stove I know will work! Very Happy

I wimp out every morning... Greek yogurt with granola. The yogurt is Trader Joe's vanilla or coconut.

Lucky you and your new stove.

Get a stove floor mat for that new oven! They're inexpensive and they work.

I thought this would be both a late lunch and late dinner too but we liked it so much there won't be any left for dinner. We'lll probably just have a snack later tonight.
It's chicken thighs with egg noodles, mushrooms, bacon, and shallots.

That's great that the kids did most of the cooking....I'm sure your hand was in there just a tiny bit! Hope Tina has a great Mother's Day!

Would you believe, not one pinkie was in preparation of any of the food. The DIL and DD did everything. I didn't even get my own coffee! LOL
Amazing!....

That reminds me....
Years ago, the woman would slave, cooking and preparing for the big meal, and the men would be watching the TV and just loafing around until mom would say,"OK...Come and sit down, it's time to eat!"....
They would all finish, then the woman cleaned the table off, and the men waited in the Parlor waiting for dessert to be set out, and the coffee made.

Some of those men didn't even fix their own coffee.... L A Z Y .... Mad

This morning, Tina went on a search task down to her Uncle's in West Orange, because he said he was going to Atlantic City on the bus with his friend to play some games at the casino. Well... we were concerned, because he always takes his 5 star alert button with him, and I pinged the alert, and it showed it being at his address at his house. We called the house....no answer. Called the neighbor, and he said he didn't see Elmer leave the house.
So Tina took a ride down. Garage...the car was there, and the house was empty, but his bed was made, and his slippers were by the front door for when he gets home. His friend had to pick him up.
His 5 star alert key fob was on the charger. He forgot to take it with him.

After the fact all was ok....I made a two egg omelet; with mushrooms, ham, and cheese with green onions chopped. Ate that with tabasco sauce....OMG it was so good!

The alert thingys are great.....until they are forgotten. But, as you say, all's well that ends well.

I'm sure Tina (and you) felt better doing the check even if it was unnecessary. Pity he doesn't carry a cell phone......

When I lived alone, it was before those alert things were common. I always pictured me dropping dead and no one ever noticed me until the neighborhood started to smell bad.

He probably figured he was on the bus with people, and at least one of them would notice he was ill. He has a cell phone, and he keeps that in his car. Turned Off, and turns it on only if he needs it.

We did feel better knowing he was ok.

It happened to my next door neighbor. His mom didn't drive and so even living only 10 miles away, the son and family went on vacation for like 6 days upstate PA.
They came home, and 4 day's later, he was coming home from work, and was concerned his mom didn't call. She really never called much; or meddled much with her kids. Well.... he dropped in, and before opening the door, he smelled the putrid odor. She died peacefully from heart failure. She was dead like 8 days sitting on her couch.
The kicker is, she, 3 days previous to her death, was at the Dr and passed a stress test, and electrocardiogram with flying colors. silent Go figure. She was a diabetic though.
