What a Face pirat pale No

Last Yhursday I was workinh on the car, and repairing a muffler bracket.
No strain...no rush, and just taking my time at the repair..

I get up and as I stood. I got dizzy. I held on to the car to not fall until I could find out what the heck is going on.

All of a sudden, I was seeing double of everything. I didn't say anything to Tina, and I did not want to create a scene.

Well...It didn't go away. Tina said follow me to the place where we rentaed a car so she could take the car back. She went to fill the car with gas, and I took off to meet her there.
I was so disoriented, I didn't know how I got there,a nd Iv'e been there many times before. Verry scary.

Well here it is tuesday, and I areed to get it checked out.
The Dr. said NO Tumor ( no loss of vision ).. Thank God For that!
He asked if there was MS in my family... I said No

He said lost muscle ccontrol in my left eye.
#Weird.... really....?????
He said probable loss of blood flow to the third cranial nerve region of the brain that controls the left eye. Like a Mini Stroke...
I keep the lrft eye covered with a pirate patch, and then I don't get dizzy .
He  (the Dr. ) is making me a pair of glasses with a prism on the left eye.

About a week for them to come in. So for now.... just trying to adjust temporarily for a few days.

Thank god it's only a slight setback, but I'll get past it in a little time.

I didn't know. They have glasses hat have a lens for close and far at the same time, and without that bifocal line in the middle. Wow! They call them transitional focal lenses.

Yeah! it is scary Barb.
Thank god Tina does most the driving now anyway.
I drove enough and all over during my working days.

Tina L O V E S to drive...so she got the job.

I will run to the home depot or the plumbing supply etc...but that's it.
She does all the shopping because I always get the wrong stuff at the wrong prices.

I could get around the vivon problem, but the pain of a headache right behind the eye really sucks big time. It's like an eye strain headache.

Are you also going to a med doctor as well as the eye doc? Please, Please be sure there's no further problem, no clots, no plaque traveling around your veins, etc. Please get yourself checked out. We want you just the way you are! NO illness, NO problems....just your regular self.

So, get an appointment made now, please.

Jimmy, please take care of yourself!
As Beth suggested, please got to a medical doctor in addition to the eye doctor.
And please, try to relax and let T and DD and DS do things for you!
take it easy. You do too much.. now is the time to focus on yourself..pamper yourself for a while.....

If I remember correctly, Hilary Clinton had to wear a special set of eyeglasses for the same thing. She wore them for several months.
I have seen her on TV and see appears to be back to her contacts.

BTW, Yes, I have had the transitional lenses for several years.
They are much better than the bifocal lines. Mine glasses also turn into sunglasses automatically. Very expensive prescription, but they are so much handier than having to carry around a second set of prescription sun glasses.....

I do have the other Dr for my blood pressure and other problems if needed

It's amazing that I / we never heard of this before, and now that it happened, we hear it from everyone that knew someone that had it happen.

But you need to go and get checked out in case there is an ongoing problem, you know ~ some underlying problem that can be fixed easily in the early stages so you don't have a 'real' stroke or other attack. Come on, Jimmy, humor us. Of course there's no problem but we would love to hear your stories about how awful the tests are or what the inept techs do to you.

I know you probably think a 'mini stroke' is no big deal. Why else would they call it 'mini' ~ you're a big guy, you can handle it.

Darn it, I'm runnin' out of stuff here. Just please GO TO THE DOCTOR THIS WEEK. GET CHECKED OUT.

((thank you))

Yeah! I was remembering Hillary wearing the special glasses, but it is amazing that her condition reversed?
Must be a miracle?

I was amazed there are glasses that have no bi-focal lines.
It will be good for me; because I am near and far sighted.
I got the glare coated too and with a 2 year warranty.
The darkening I didn't get. I am having a clip on fitted to my glasses.
The darkest and tightest fitting. I didn't know they still made the clip ons with the metal (4) tab clips. I don't like the flip up kind or the bat wing top clip that clips over the bridge pads.

I can't wait to get the glasses. Too much eye strain even though I keep a patch on....

hahahahaha..... Tina said to me," Sit on the toilet when you pee, because you can't find the real toilet between the two that you see!" hahahahahaha

Jimmy, glad you are going to the Doctors. Next week is ok, but this week would have been better----yes, I am preaching!!

mini-strokes are dangerous---I hope you doc knows why you are making the appointment, that it is not just a simple check up!
He could want to see you sooner.

How is your blood pressure? If it is high then you need to tell you doctor and he needs to see you sooner!

Sorry, I get carried away with medical stuff--just my nature, please do not take it the wrong way

Yeah, Jimmy, listen to all your 'mothers' here in the forum!

If you don't have a blood pressure cuff, you can go to a VA clinic and see a doc and they will give you a cuff to take home. Dane got one when he went.

Well.... I got new glasses last week, and the prism to correct my double vision did not work...plus, the lens and the progressive fitting was all wrong. I could only see far if I tipped my chin into my chest, and looked through the tippy top of the glasses.

To see close....I have to lift my head way way up, and force my eyes to look through the extreme bottom of the lenses. This is not right as told to me by lots of people that wear progressive lenses.

SOoooo.... I go back, and the obtician... say's... go upstairs to the Dr's. I did, and NOW he say's
There is something wrong. I said...It's the glasses. They were not made right. Then I pulled out my 1 year old glasses to look far away, and showed them I could see everything sharp.

they were like well ug hmmmm ,,,.... and set me up with another opthamologist in Chester, about 25 minute drive.
Went there today, and her equipment is so modern. They took scans and video's of my eye insides.

The doctor is now sending me for a brain (head) MRI ... she thinks I had a mini stroke?
I told her I hade massive headaches, like sinus headaches, but they had ceased or had only been slight now. She was happy with that, because that could mean a brain tumor could be ruled out then. .

She wants a blood test also to check for MS and a to see if I am diabetic,
I told her not one person in my family had diabedies and such.

I told her the double vision did not get less or more... and she said..she will give me 12 weeks.
IF...if I had a mini stroke, which will show on the MRI, she said it will heal itself.

She mentioned exactly what I diagnosed it to be. A Sixth Nerve paulsy.

Plus my blood pressure needs to be lower. It's like 180 / 93 at some times. I thought that was good for my size and weight. My resting heart rate is 76 beats per minute which is normal.

i don't see how I am diabetic. I am never thirsty and do not crave sweets.

Means nothing.I had zero warning. Not one symptom.  I was right as a rain.Had to pee in a cup for a totally unrelated DR visit.DR came in & said you have type 2.Gave me a testing kit, sent me on my way. " Uncle Jimmy Sees Two of everything!" 2855670339 I had to find to just wing it..
Not until I went to a university hospital Dr did I get the right meds & info.

Yikes your BP is high.  Are you on the right meds?  Mine comes right down when I skip salt.Hard to do too. I love cheese & it has loads of salt.

I have bi focals , PIA. Can not see the fine print either way.I was told 2years ago I had some cataracts, when I had them removed I would not need glasses.here I am ,have not had them removed.I have to go for my eye exam 1 time a year for my type 2..

Hope you get that fixed soon.. " Uncle Jimmy Sees Two of everything!" 3561122519

Jimmy, as Barb said, thirst and craving sweets does not matter for diabetes.
Also, your BP is way to high. Even for someone your age, height and weight.
I found that when I cut down on salt, decrease caffeine (use decaf) and lose weight it is much lower.

What did your PCP say about all of this?
He needs to be informed about this. You need to see specialists for your eyes! This is so important! any Med schools around you? You need to see someone who is a professor or who is affiliated with one. This is nothing to 'sneeze' about!

It could all be a precursor to something major (hope not)......

Please take care of yourself.

If the eyeglasses were incorrectly made, you should have gone back to the person who made them. He can tell you if they are incorrect!
Yes, you do have to turn your head more to see out of the progressive lenses, especially if you have a strong prescription. But it is much better than having to avoid the 'line', just my opinion.

I know I am sounding bossy, but I care about you and want you to get the appropriate care so you can be around a looooong time!!

ah, Jimmy.....got to have your blood sugar monitored. There are multiple symptoms of diabetes and many times, no symptoms at all. Scary stuff, I know. But best to find what is causing the vision problems. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

With blood pressure that high you could have had a stroke. Get some meds that get it down. You might have to try a few to see what works best. High blood pressure not only can cause strokes BUT can also damage your kidneys. Those do not regenerate like a liver. I am glad you are getting an MRI. It will put your mind at ease whatever it shows. Answers are always best.

Having come from a family of 5 doctors and having seen more than I can count, I have come to the conclusion that 95% of them are basically inert. 3% are crazy and the remainder can actually do what they say they can do. Just because they managed to get through medical school doesn't mean they are any good at what they do. I can tell you stories where they have killed friends of mine with their incompetence. So, if you have to, shop around for new doctors that know what they are doing.

Thank you Barb, Beth, and cookingirl...

I just got back from the GP Dr....

WOW!!!! she said! 186 / 110... It's way way too high she said.
The Dr. I see in this group was on vacation today. so I used this Dr, today.

She boosted my meds and added more diuretic because she said she pressed on the legs /shin and said there is slight retention of water. And...listen to this, non of any other Dr's ever did that test.
I showed the cardiologist my swollen ankles, and he laughed and said nothing to worry about...yer fine; and it comes with age.

SOooo... I got two BP pills now, and I had a electrocardiogram today, and that was great.

They took blood to check diabetic and cholesterol.

Tomorrow I go for MRI of the head / brain to see if I had a stroke...

And saturday, I go for a sonogram of the carotid arteries on the neck feeding the head / brain.

The neurological eye dr said then wait 12 weeks to see if the stroke clears / repairs.
I hope so...
Then she is gonna do my cateracts and she said I won't even need glasses except to read.

Thanks for the info Dr. Bugster....I think you know more that these quacksters out there.
Point in Show... This Dr. (woman) was the first Dr in all the years I've had High BP that tested my ankles and lower legs for water retention.
She said,"Press / dimple the flesh in and as soon as you remove your finger, it should bounce back. If it stays impressed for a couple seconds, you are retaining water. Water + you blood is Tooooo Much for the heart to pump.

Yet a cardiologist just laughed and made a joke and said I was worried for nothing.

The optical place didn't want to know crap about my progressive lenses. They pushed it off to the Dr.

I say, the line of sight, and the transitional channel are not correct.

Sounds like that lady doctor is on the ball. Good! Now you might pee your head off for a while but that is normal. You must buy a BP cuff. Our roomie has HBP and was feeling woozy. She took her BP and found that it was too low. The Doc adjusted her meds and now she feels fine. From what I have seen and heard about BP meds is that some work, some don't. Some make you feel like crap, others don't. So, like I said it might take a few tries to get the meds right.

Well.... got some unofficial news from the medical family doctor about my tests....

Brain Scan = NO TUMOR (s).... cheers

Carotid Ateries... = No severe restriction / blockages.  cheers

Cholesterol = slightly elevated. Called in meds to CVS

Diabetic Testing -= just below borderline ( Told to watch carbs ) Always had that on previous tests for years. " Uncle Jimmy Sees Two of everything!" 863604796

Appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow at 1:00 .... and she will go over the tests with me. That's good. She ordered the tests, but Tina got the results from the family doctor already!....

The next step....is to wait 12 weeks to see if the 6th nerve palsy heals itself.  pale  pale

Also.... reduce the carbs.
