It's cold. How cold you say?

So cold the cold water pipe in the kitchen sink froze three times this winter. Second time the forecast for minus degrees came, I left the cabinet door open. It froze anyway. Third time I put a light bulb under the sink.. 60 watts. It was toasty warm under the sink but the cold water line froze again. Thank goodness there was no break in the line. I can't depend on luck in the future. I hope it will not get so cold again this winter but I am going to take the panel off the wall in the basement and inspect the pipes. It probably isn't insulated so I'll either do that or add some heat tape.

Norm, that always happened in my old apartment when it got really cold--teens, lower 20's.
I had to resort to keeping cabinet doors open and running a trickle of water.
It is a pain!

Fortunately it has only happened to be when it got to -7 or lower.

We had hail 2 days ago. Today it is about 75.
