Did grilling the melon help with the taste or was it still blah?

Who cares, B, as your plate is gorgeous!!!  We planted cantaloupes this year and the first couple were really huge.  Had a great texture but they're not sweet.  I saw something on the local news the other day showing a huge peach next to a normal peach -- they said they got huge and "unsweet" from too much rain (it rained constantly in May).  We keep picking them and hoping the next ones are a bit sweeter.

Last night I was hungry so I chopped one up, and put it in the blender with some crushed ice, lemon juice, vanilla and Splenda.  It was good but still not sweet enough.  Made another one (for Brian) using honey instead of the Splenda and almond extract instead of the vanilla and it was better -- plus I added a big sprig of fresh mint, too, which made it smell divine. Brian was already upstairs in bed but he gladly accepted one when I told him he was my other guinea pig! It's so freaking hot here that something with ice in the blender is always appealing -- day or night!

On the bright side, and I mean that litterly, YOU have sunshine.  I've got grey skies and drab...just not encouraging for me to do much of anything.  I miss the sunshine.

What's in the bowl?  It kind of looks like the chicken salad I made for our lunch yesterday.....and that I am thinking of finishing up for my breakfast this morning.

Well that sounds like a good protein packed start for your day.

When Jake gets up this morning (he gets to sleep in for the rest of this week before having to get up early in anticipation of school starting in a couple weeks....) he is going to practice cooking his eggs again. Today I will test him to see if he remembers to get all of his equment out and ready before the stove gets turned on.

He's shown he has the ability to cook his eggs just as he likes them, but he has needed coaching on having everything close by so he doesn't have to reach over the stove for a spatula or not remembering to have the bread ready to toast.

So, depending on his mood, it will be a Jacob day in the kitchen.

Cookies and coffee....the breakfast of CHAMPIONS!

Isn't it great being a grown-up so you can eat whatever you want and no one yells at you?

Very close, Barb....just no (eep!) cheese on mine.

I wish I could have taken a pic...first time in a very long time I cooked it low and slow enough to not have any brown or tan on my egg....it was really tasty, too.

I prepped peppers and meat filling for Tina to make Stuffed Peppers. Not as good as Barbara's I'm sure, but good to eat.
I chopped small pieces of provolone cheese, and Tina thought that would be a good taste.

I am going to bake them in the grill. Having AueGratin potatoes too. The Boxed one. hahaha

Oh God..>I'm getting so tired from all that sweet Vermont Maid Syrup I ate on the waffles.....Uhhhhhhhhh!
