We drove over to the Gulf coast and went to St. Petersburg beach. The 11 yr. old had a ball even though the water was too cool to swim. He dug a hole to China and buried his legs, then mounded the sand to look like his legs were on the sand. Grandma stayed under the umbrella 99% of the time....she's not a sun worshiper at all.
When we got home we ordered a couple pizzas to be delivered....showered, fed and ready for bed.

Tina was the cook today! God love her. She made spaghetti sauce and meatballs.... and it was delicious...
Inspiration was Barbs spaghetti and meatballs recently the other day!
Had nice texas toast, with garlic and spices, and Tina laid a slice of provalone cheese on top and threw it in the broiler. Ummmmmmm
I was all crippled up from installing a transmission on the neighbors kids VW ...
It was a great day, but around 7 o'clock the sun went in, and it was getting cool.
The meal was very inviting, and hit the spot.

I threw a Corned beef in the oven to have it transfer into a pastrami. I ground the peppercorns fresh, but the coriander I had already ground.
Put it in at 3; so it won't be ready till 8. Oven temp set at 250ºF.
So we have sammiches later tonight. Suits Me Fine.
I also mixed a batch of ground pork and veal to make City Chicken for Tomorrow.
The kids can come over.

It's city chicken tonight.... mashed potatoes.. and peas / or corn.
Tina made a "Kentucky Butter Cake" ....
This week is Hospital Week... DIL's Mom in hospital. They? ? think she has a enlarged thyroid and it is choking her airway off. I don't think so. Her chest feels crushed and she feels that she can't get enough air. She had a bronchial infection 2 or three weeks ago, and the Z pack of antibiotics didn't help at all. I say it is COPD or sleep apnea. We shall see???
Then, Tina's 94 yo aunt in PA, had a pacemaker installed today! She is fine, and may come home tomorrow! A much needed regulator since 8 years ago.
Kids are coming for dinner tonight after the hospital...

I have had a raging need for Ice Cream today.. 
So I made sure I stayed in. 
Now tomorrow is another day.
I thought about grilling something. Pushing the 90` mark.Decided to eat leftovers so my fridge is cleaned out.
I think I will make 'Jerk' something.Chicken but I have had that this week. Ribs???Then again burgers sound good too.

Barb.... seriously??? 90º ??? I would die if it got that hot this soon.

Jimmy, if they haven't done one, maybe have a lung scan done. She may have thrown a clot from somewhere. My father had the same symptoms and that is what it was. clots.

Thanks... they did a CT of the lungs, and no fluid or problems. They did find out today, that her thyroid is enlarged and is pressing the trachea. They will do a removal, but biopsy first.

what is City Chicken? there is Country chicken too, right?
the cake looks so perfect... I wish I could bake a beautiful cake like this.. I have no good luck in baking.. today I baked some brownies and they turned out too moist and soft

Bravo to all the fabulous food !!
We left early (well, early when you have 4 people to pile into the car and one is a sleepyhead 11 year old....) and headed to the beach for the day yesterday. He had a wonderful day. Of course the water is too cold to really swim in, which is fine with me. No worries about him getting caught in a rip current or a sand shark or whatever. He did go wading....was walking along and saw something in the shallow water.....a STARFISH! "HEY, HEY, LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!! I FOUND A STARFISH!". Before the day was over he had a huge pile of 'special' shells and TWO starfish. The starfish are being 'mummified' in a thick layer of salt right now. In a week or so his mom will check to see if the stink is gone enough to rinse them off so they can go to school for 'show & tell'.
The two of them head out this morning to drive back to Ohio. I think they had a wonderful time and will return when they can. Between the beaches and the great number of swimming pools available, they couldn't have been happier to spend time with us.
Our other daughter is coming for just a few days in 2 weeks. Phew! This company stuff is tiring. But, we wouldn't miss it for anything.

Barb's chicken salad had my head whirling.....boy, does her's look good or what???
So, I had to have a grilled chicken salad ~ put together for him with feta cheese, egg & avocado...
and mine with NO feta....much more to my liking!
