Mr. Amazing comes through ~ again!

I have been fighting with my dryer for the last month. It's an old Admiral brand, Yeah, that's right....Admiral (which gives you some indication of it's age....). I think Admiral was bought out by Maytag many moons ago. Anyway ~ my clothes wouldn't dry.

We first figured it might be the exhaust vent as it is strange as can be. They built it so it goes from the back of the dryer, a sharp turn and up through the attic to a roof vent. So we had to go on a wild goose chase trying to find a brush that would fit inside the pipe and reach to the roof....first 2 we found were $35 and $25....crap. For that amount I'll let him climb up on the roof and throw marbles down in hopes of dislodging any clogs. Finally, we found an inexpensive vent cleaning brush (at Wal-Mart) for $8 or so. It did clean out a fair amount of lint.

But, still, it took forever to dry a load of clothes. And unlike Ohio, I cannot just take things out and hang them on the line (much as I'd like to).

So, I did a search on youtube. Darn if there wasn't a whole section about appliances that don't do what they're suppose to. I pulled one up about how to dismantle the dryer and called Dane to take a look. He said, "Huh! I guess I could give that a try."

Half a grocery sack of icky lint later.....DRYER WORKS !!!!

landlord came blow out the vent with his yard blower.OMG OMG sidewalk was full of lint.I mean he filled 5 green bags with it.To think this house could have caught fire..

we are having problem with our washing machine right now, the switch was broken, so it would not drain the water, so we bought online, he replaced it and at the end before put it back to the machine, it turned out we got the wrong part of the connector and he is pissed off right now, he has been on the phone with the seller for 30 minutes and has not found the solution yet

I hate when appliances fail.

When I buy something I expect it to last FOREVER.

The washer & dryer were here when we bought the house....came with it. Sure, they were old, but everything was fine. I don't like it when it just stops working and it takes forever to figure out what the problem is.

The dryer at my old house had an accordion vent that had become so brittle that it could not be cleaned without breaking it. To make matters worse, the contractor had put it inside the walls so in order to replace it, they would have had to tear out a wall.

I had the plumber put another one in next to the old vent. It ran along the ceiling and down to the dryer on the outside of the wall. It was hidden from view because it went through a closet and over the top of a shower. They had to cut a new hole in the wall to the outside of the house but it took a few hours and little to no mess to put a new vent pipe in while it would have taken three days and cost a fortune to replace the old one.

I use to throw my dryer lint outside in the grass as well.

The birds would fight over it for their nests.

(I just did it to see the birds duke it out.....)
