I do. If it's really bad, I cut out the sprouting part, but onions have gotten so expensive, unless it's getting slimy, I try to use it. The slimy ones go in the trash.

Me, too. I usually cut in half and discard the green sprouting parts....but the rest is usually fine to cook with.

I hate when the onions are like that.
They pick them, and don't let them air dry enough, and then they pack them. Where they touch, they get green moly (as I say ) and sometimes there is no saving. If they smell sour...out they go into the woods.
Last week,poor Tina didn't check the bag of onions, and there were 5 that were no good.
I like them bought loose, and not packaged. Tina said, Cheaper by the bag. I say Yeah! Cheaper X4 are in the back yard.

This onion had a 4 inch sprout of green that I cut off. The onion tasted fine.

I never buy bagged onions.
Seems I heard somewhere you can plant that . I know my Mom used to put sweet p in water & it got loads of roots .You can also plant the avocado pit after it makes roots.lemon seeds etc .green onions..Even the top of pineapple.

Plant closest in the blue pot is an avocado about 2 or 3 years old.
