I started my laundry this morning. While the machine was running I also started to fill the sink to do some hand washing. While it was filling I went in the next room and caught the news about a fire that had broken out. I forgot about the sink. I flooded the laundry room, 6 inches of carpet and part of the garage. I have used every single towel, washcloth, paper towel in the house mopping up the mess. I now have ten loads of towels to wash. I am pooped!

I'm NOT laughing....

it is not funny.

honest.

and I know all about dragging all the bath towels out of the linen closet AND cotton blankets because when the under-sink water filter in our kitchen popped it's top we had full force cold water spewing until I could move the stuff and turn off that stinkin' little valve wayyyyy at the back.

yup, I know

What was so icky was that the water got under the machines and mingled with only know what and was gross to touch. It also mixed with cat sand that was under and behind the box and turned to slimey gray mud.

That's like when Tina a couple months ago, broke the toilet water supply pipe, and the valve didn't turn off the water.

She didn't think it was funny, but I commented,"Gee, at least the floor is super clean now!"

It was so funny watching her try covering the pipe with towels; whilst the water was pouring out.

I went out to get the newspaper off the driveway this morning and heard a strange whistling noise. The neighbors across the street are gone and their water line sprung a leak. At 6:30 am I didn't know who to call and it was too dark to really see what was going on.

By 7 am I heard the lady next door and knocked on her door to ask her advice...scared the living daylights out of her by knocking on her door so early but I stood there saying, "Joann ~ it's Beth from next door!" so she wouldn't call 911 to report me as a thief trying to break into her house!

We walked over and saw the water spewing out of the plastic line...fortunately there was a shut off valve and I turned it and the water and noise stopped. Now, when the people get home we have to be sure to catch them so they know they have no water. I don't know, it could be their sprinkler line. I'm just glad the valve was there so we could take care of it. They are at their other home about 5 hours away for a week or so and if it can be fixed without them having to return ahead of schedule, well, all the better.

"VillaBeth Plumbing Service" to the rescue! Yay!
Leave a note on their door Beth.
Better yet, go to the home depot, and get a repair pipe, and then you can leave them a $Bill$. LOL

Nah - I ended up giving them a call. But I sure am glad they had a shut off valve right under the leaking joint. Otherwise I don't think I would have had a clue what to do.
