Now THAT is a cultural thing, to be sure !

No matter how I try (and believe me, I've tried the bought ones, the ones both my sister-in-laws made, the ones my nephew made.......)

EWWWWWW.

But you can have mine, OK ?

How long do you cook yours in the slow cooker, Barb?

I remember my sister-in-laws did theirs in a low simmer on the stove.....stunk up the entire house. LOL

But they LOVED 'em hot outta the pot. Funny, my youngest DD loves 'em, too. Andrea and I do a pass on them.

But to each their own! Enjoy. That's one treat you can eat a bunch of, isn't it?

they do smell while cooking. Not as bad as some other stuff tho.I did them outside on the patio in the slow cooker.12 hrs or so.I had them on high for the most part so they boil. Then turned down to low for a hr or so.I tasted them so I knew they where done.
I did not like them when I first moved down south lol.then I guess they grew on me.

I always figured since I like edemame (sp?) that I would really like boiled peanuts. But I guess not.

But, like I said, you enjoy!

oh no.they are not the same. These are raw green peanuts. Those are soy beans.Last time I ate them,I had to clear a path right quick to the small room.have not had them since Embarassed  Shocked  Mad

But they are somewhat similar....

My nephew made some with hot peppers, Thai chiles I think, and other than spicy, salty and slimey....well, they were no better than the ones I had previously tried. I think it's the texture that I don't care for, which is softer than the Japanese soy beans. JMO

Are green peanuts the same as raw peanuts? So, what happens after all that time in the pot? Are they mushy, like peanut butter? Do you eat them hot or cold?

I bought them from the grocery store this time,in this bag. I buy them bulk too.Stores here have bins of them.

No not mushy. The shells are still firm so you have to crack them open with your teeth lol sometimes.
try it.slow cooker .rinse nuts, add 1 cup salt ,then water to almost top of cooker, set on high. 12 hrs .
