Ooooooh, rib eyes - the most flavorful cut IMO. A fine aged bone-in rib eye steak cooked over a charcoal fire and seasoned with nothing more than s&p.....my mouth is watering. But I haven't seen one I could afford at the grocery store lately.

I just bought a whole stack of them on Sunday morning I love you

That is when Food Lion marks down all most everything in the meat counters.

All I spent was $41. & I got $150.+ in meat. Well I got chicken thighs too.

Last week I filled up on pork products. They also had the gd beef in patties on sale too.

Funny I don't shop there for anything else.I don't even read the ad's.

I started to pick out 3 flatirons but put them back when I saw I could get 3 ribeyes for the same price.  I used Tatonka Dust on the steaks this time. It was pretty good. It has dry powdered soy sauce and dry powdered worcestershire sauce in it.

The cheese sauce was invented on the spot with stuff I had on hand.  It was approximately 1/3 C. each half and half, cubed Velveeta and shredded mozzarella seasoned with about 1/8 tsp of nutmeg, dry mustard and paprika.

Even though I don't eat cheese sauce I still make it on occasion.  I think the last time was for some roasted cauliflower.  The hardest thing for me is making it in small amounts.  I think it is much easier to make if you are making it for a mac and cheese type dish.  But if you only want a little to top one or two servings without a huge amount leftover, well, that's a challenge.

But, like you, Norm, I use a base started with something like an American cheese slice.  The processed cheese helps keep the sauce emulsified and smooth without breaking.  I usually add a bit of dry mustard and probably a bit of paprika for seasoning.  The only thing I never use is black pepper...just don't like the look of the specks in the sauce.  But I have added a few drops of sriracha to give it a tiny bit of a kick, without so much of a vinegar aftertaste like you get if you use another hot sauce like
Tabasco.

It's amazing how once you get the smooth melted processed cheese melted the other cheese(s) you add just incorporate right in.  I prefer to grate whatever is in the refrigerator instead of using a pregrated product...it seems to break easier for me - possibly from the anti clumping addition.

thank you Norm.. I'll buy some country style ribs when they are on sale Very Happy

Beth... for the vermicelli salad, added some lettuce, some chopped celery (original recipe uses chopped cucumber), some pickled carrots and jicama ( shredded/grated them and let them sit for a while in fish sauce + rice vinegar + sugar), as for the lemongrass.. I processed in blender it, the white and some of the green part.. I used some and freeze the rest of it

Looks like you had more add-ins than egg.....I could have joined you....there are so many things to do with eggs.

I had a couple soft boiled eggs for breakfast and then, just for the heck of it, had a small dish of the leftover cauliflower salad from last night.

No cooking tonight - I'm thinking we will go out for a nice burger and onion rings, REAL onion rings.

It will probably be Max & Erma's where I can get a nice burger with caramalized onions, melted provolone cheese and a side of onion rings.

When I got back from my weekend away this morning, my brand new frige/freezer had a 'hiccup' an everything in the freezer part seemed to be melting. It was still cold and there was still some ice crystals in it, so I knew it was still good. I've been cooking all day and have my choice of about 10 things. Right now, I'm cooking Andouille sausage with black beans, tomatoes, rice, and whatever else I find that needs to be added.

That sounds like the freezer defrost cycle is stuck.

Bet Jimmy would make a house call for you....

Boy, you were right kid. That word Refrigerator /Freezer caught my eye right away. hahahaha

Unless there was a power failure...it is not normal for the freezer to be warmer than 25-30 degrees on the defrost cycle at the coil.

If it's a new ref freezer...get it checked out that it is in warranty.

Some of the newer refrigerators / depends on the model / size / manufacturer, are equipped with a terminal solid state control that the service person could hook into it, and pinpoint the defrost / refrigeration cycle. Like they do on the cars.

Jana... unless there was a power failure for over 8 hours...it is not normal to have melting at all in the freezer section. Under Warranty? Get it checked out.
