Oh My Goodness! The bathroom got a good washing Saturday.
It started with ME being asked to unbolt the toilet seat and bring it outside and sanitize it with amonia and whatever.... OK Done, and waiting for Ms. Tina to scrup the toilet with her scrubbers and whatever special things she does.
All of a sudden, I'm in the kitchen, and I hear screaming and like loud hissing.

Well...Tina grabbed what she thought was a spring (But it was The Supply Water Pipe to the toilet) and she pulled on it to straighten it so she could scrub off the dust, and she broke the gosh darn pipe right off. affraid

Here she was, with like 12 towels trying to hold the water. Like Dughhh! Shut the valve...helloooooo!

I ran down the basement and shut the main off. The room below....the water was pouring out the ceiling fan, and elswhere. I thought it was funny. LOL

I finally went to the dome heepo, and got all new parts and changed all the innards inside the toilet tank at the same time.

Tina said," I was always wondering what that thing was under there!" I said,"Yeah, next time just bring a bar of soap now that you know what it is!"

All under control with that now!

Then... My kitchen computer took a hissy fit, and won't boot. Grrrrrrr!!!

I told Tina,"It could have been worse!" Suppose DD was cleaning behind there, and it happened to her?! ..... hahahahahahaha.. She is a panic girl for sure! Shocked

in a way that is funny. I know zip about toilets . When I see the water coming up to the rim I panic & run for mops & towels. there it is mess.......I have 2 full baths.Since day one of moving in here the front bath toilet jams up. I don't mean with anything HUGE. I can put a tissue in there flush & whooosh over the rim.Landlord came & messed with it.. ok fixed. sure right. next time I flushed it over the rim...

he must have 'fixed' the toilet 6 times. NOT fixed....He then sent the router guy.You know what HE did ????? He took the back off messed  around & stuffed half a roll of tpaper in the bowl & flushed. down it went. FIXED>>>I used it.. OVER THE RIM>>>>>

so now that room is for dogs I mean FOR the girls. I have not flushed that chiten thing in 4yrs....and I don't plan on it.

I saw this ad for something? toilet maybe. This guy sees the knockout gal plumber & runs to his toilet & crams a bunch of stuff in the thing. towels, etc everything in sight. flushed it & DOWN it goes. He didn't know he has one of those fancy toilets that won't get clogged.

I jump up & say I got one for you..Tina really Cleaned The Bathroom Saturday 1450907917Tina really Cleaned The Bathroom Saturday 2876911673

Boy, I agree bathroom leaks are the worst.  Both of our toilets have sprung a leak or overflowed at least once.  And both were replaced when we remodeled the house in 2002.  The downstairs one popped the water supply line at the fitting at the bottom of the toilet.  Dane found that one...but the baseboards were soaked and are still water stained.  He kept saying he would take the toilet out to reprint the baseboards behind but so far I haven't seen that yet.

The one upstairs got a stuck float in the water tank one time...I was the only one home for that one.  I walked downstairs, unaware of the problem, and heard water dripping from the ceiling pot lights above the fireplace.  I raced upstairs and started grabbing the towels hanging to toss on the floor and then got the ones out of the linen closet....anything to soak up about an inch of water.  I did know to turn off the valve under the toilet but, man, what a mess.  I kept tossing all those soggy towels in the shower and grabbing more.

Barb, I know the reason for that question.....

When the waste finds its way up the other drains it means there is a clog further out in the sewer pipes...a call to the Router Man....

I'm just glad we no longer have a septic system.  City water instead of we'll water and sewer system instead of septic tank and leach field is better.

Beth.... You are 100% right about the clog (stoppage) at a point down stream of the toilet.
When the waste (we will call it that for print ) backs up to other points...it is Not The toilet trap that is blocked.

When we first moved to this NJ state, we lived in an apartment...in a single family house in the City near Newark, NJ. affraid  The landlady (bad) fixed up the 2nd floor and turned it into space to rent out. $135.00 a month. LOL All we paid extra was electric.

Well one day she runs (the lady) upstairs in a tizzy and screaming, "You Better Have your drains cleaned because it is coming out my kitchen sink when you use your kitchen sink drain. I tried to explain to her ( The Dummy) that the blockage was below her sink, and our drainage worked fine. She just started screaming and did not understand the situation at all. She was a Hard Headed Italian (even more hard headed than I as an Italian Am) and it took her husband to show her where the blockage was.
The old Galvanized 1-1/2" pipe was so clogged, they had to replace it.

She still insisted it was our drain content that caused the drain pipe to block.

The old pipe was in the garbage, and I showed her what the problem was. 80 years of use and rust. Bingo!

The next month, she raised the rent 15.00....  House Hunting Tina went, and we were out in 2 months. LOL:D

I'm glad I read this post ( kind of funny though).. I would not know what to do if it happens to my toilets, I might just run away panic and let it flow on the floor when the water leaks Shocked now I'll make sure to grab all the towels out the cabinet.. but knock on wood...  hope it won't happen to our toilets or sink.. I have to say.. I don't know much about them.. the pipes, the AC, the roof, insulation and all Embarassed

The most important thing to know when it comes to water at least....is where to shut it off in an emergency by closing the "Main" water valve. I went through this show and tell 19 times since we lived here, and all I have ever heard or seen...was Uh? Where was it that I was supposed to shut off the water??

Like yesterday with the disaster (their disaster...I don't panic )..screaming will not shut off the water. Looking for or asking Hon is not going to shut it off if Hon is not home, or in the back yard further away from the valve than you are. hahahahaha

Looks like we are all in need of doing a emergency Drill!

So don't state to Tina ( You Know The Drill? ) because she forgot!

The best thing to do when things like that happens, is think "What Would I Do If The Ham Was Rolling Off The Table?" Scream and run away? Or Catch it to save it from the dirty floor? Or Let it fall on the floor, and just Pick It Up, and Kiss It Up To God to make it safe!Suspect
