How many of us has had the self-control to NOT eat too much of a Blooming Onion, that battered and deep fried delicacy served at the steak house chain restaurant? Man, those things are just too good!

But let's face it, it's not the best thing in the world for us to eat. Too much too much.

I just came across this link to a better version that sounds like a fun appetizer to share, and not a guilt-ridden choice.....the onion (in this case they demonstrated with a red onion) is cut into the traditional petals and then drizzled with oil & basalmic vinegar and baked in the oven. The dipping sauce suggested is Greek yogurt based and it's served with a side of seasoned/crisped/toasted panko crumbs.
