The kids flew home last night. While waiting for the luggage to arrive at the carousel, son-in-law went to the parking garage to retrieve the car. DD & GC waited in the terminal.

SIL arrived, DD stayed with the car with GD. SIL and grandson pulled the luggage from the carousel. GS was taking bags to the car as dad waited for the last of the bags to appear. In the 'back-and-forth' to the car, GS somehow left HIS backpack with his school laptop, DS, Ipod, earphones, etc. sitting on the floor.

The family made the drive home (45 min. drive) and schlepped everything in the house. That is when the discovery of the missing backpack was made.

CRAP! Dad had to drive BACK to the airport, all the while mentally calculating the cost of replacing all the items in son's backpack.

Fortunately, someone pointed out the unattended bag to airport security and the police took control to check it out. It got stored in the airline 'lost baggage' area. When son-in-law arrived and explained the situation, he was able to properly identify all items that were to be found in the backpack. Nothing was missing.

So, a very tired dad (what an adrenelin rush that trip must have been....) got home and was finally able to get some sleep.
