I have made up my mind

I am going to move North.Not really sure of the location yet. Va maybe.I will be much closer to my DS. maybe even MD. I know I know I HATE cold & snow.I stay in the house now due to the heat/humidity/sketters My landlord is a great guy however he does not follow through on what he says..I want & need a garage. I want a nice patio or deck. I want a nice big bathroom with a stand up shower.I want a linen closet.I want a pantry & more counter space . I want NO CARPETING> I could care less about the beach.
I stay in due to the weather so I guess I could do that with the cold.I hate summer here. So next up is for me to stay on it till I find what I am looking for.

I presume you'll be renting but you might have to buy a property to get everything you mentioned on your wish list. Or else, you'll definitely pay a pretty penny to rent a place with all that.

Brian and I probably rented for TOO long before buying (we had a flipping gorgeous apartment with a lovely deck and built-in pool and the rent was a song which kept us there). We never had a garage, a pantry, a linen closet (a small one once) a gas stove and no carpeting. We still don't have ANY of those things in the house we bought except for the gas stove (central A/C and a gas stove were MUST HAVES).

At least you're not under the gun to find someplace -- plus doing your research is an indoor activity!

I am to old to buy. My DS wants me to move to Del lol.He said he hardly had any snow.Sent me bunch of homes for sale, cheap too, but I am not interested in owning a house, been there done that to many times.Besides if I do not like it, 'winter' I am stuck with a house to sell.PIA.To much maintenance for me to do.
I have till the fall to find something. I can hardly walk to the mailbox or bring in my grocery's in this heat.It will have to be cooler for sure.

I figured you felt that way. Can't wait to see if you can find a rental that includes all that stuff which is still affordable. You go, girl!

Barb, I am sure you can find a place with almost all of those things; but it will come at a price.
The rents are really high==pretty outrageous.
That is why I am staying put for now. I have my own washer, dryer, central ac, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a linen closet, a huge storeroom, with 4 other closets-walkins along with a balcony. My parking is assigned and is semi enclosed. The super lives in the building. The place needs to be updated, but it is huge 1200 sq feet. It was built in the 90's and not updated. Electric stove and ac is electric. Heat is gas....They are thinking of renovating and boosted the rent sky high. A lot of people are moving. Also, you never know what you are getting for neighbors and the noise level....Problem is: the apartments are much, much smaller, no closets, sharing a laundry room, parking is not assigned, and out in the open.
I have a lot of friends/neighbors moving. I only hope I can get quiet people.
Nowadays, People say they are only a couple and once they are in, the entire family moves in with them! It is impossible to evict! and as long as the property manager gets his monthly rent, he really does not care.....They have brought in, cousins, in-laws, parents, and a multitude of kids....the entire social climate changes very fast. In 8 years, I have seen it go from a professional couple type of building to this...

that is pretty much the lowdown on renting.
Find a good realtor and tell them what you want.....

Update.. Have been online most days hours & hours. ZIP.. I will keep looking.. A friend that lives in OHIO says OH Oh OH Move here It is so cheap. hahahahha Yeah & you bi&ch for 6 months you are cold. OHIO out...

IF there was a need for me to move closer to DD (#1....#2 wouldn't work out well, I'm sure) then I'd go and stay with her for 3 or 4 weeks to check out the different areas. A month isn't all that terrible for them (or us) to put up with. But it gives enough time to see where you might be happiest.

You never know about the weather ~ that changes all the time. But you can get a feel for things like, can you go outside without getting eaten by mosquitos or if there are grocery stores convenient. Even stuff like how many children or teenagers are in the vicinity you are considering is something I'd want to know.

Personally, I love living in an active adult community. So much to see and do - AND peace and quiet when I want it. A lot of times there are subsidized apartments that are cheaper because of the zero lot lines. But they usually have great amenities in the way of proximity to services.

You should have fun checking it out.

that is the way I felt after leaving Asheville area of WNC..Oh it does not snow here. Said the realtor.    I got snowed in for weeks on end. I wanted to cuss her out so bad. She lied to get the sale........

I would have done just that if it was not for my 'girls'.
