roast on my stove top.Not turning on my huge oven. Not going out to grill 100`today  Evil or Very Mad No 

so I am going to put a wire rack in first.Maybe some broth in the bottom.Lid on.. let er rip..   cheers

Won't that just create steam instead of roast? Maybe you could get a dry heat like an oven if you put the chicken in a pan on a rack and then just put on the burner.....I don't know. But I think I'd just do a braise with some flavorful liquid if I didn't want to turn on the oven.

I know when I make my chicken thighs I just season and brown well, then add some wine and thyme and bay leaf and whatever else sounds good and I let it simmer slowly. When it's 'fall off the bone' tender the flavor is all through the meat - and that's when I get rid of the skin and the excess fat.
