you could have been somebody or done something great or invented something great. I am having one of those days where I wish I had or could have done more with my life. What triggered it was reading an article about a 19 year old kid from Long Beach (about 30 miles away) who was living in a trailer on his parents driveway. He made a prototype pair of virtual reality glasses and somehow got some venture capitalists to finance and run a company that was going to develop and sell these glasses. Here it is, 2 years later. The company is next door in Irvine, CA and was just bought by Facebook for 2 BILLION DOLLARS! It made me so depressed.

Though that sounds great, not to mention wealth-inducing, I know my limitations and I'm no inventor.  Most of the time, I feel really blessed to have a wonderful husband (35 years this month), a house I'm in love with in a neighborhood I adore, and relatively good health (well, that could be better for Brian and me but lots have it much worse than us).  Plus, both of us can still make it up the steep staircase in our home.

Do we occasionally dream of winning the Powerball or MegaMillions?  Yep, but it's fun to do that, though I doubt very much would change if we did win (I'd have a housekeeper twice a week, though -- that much I know!).

I grew up with and went to school with very wealthy kids -- their houses were grand and they'd go to places like Jamaica for Christmas when in high school.  One got a Jaguar XKE for her 15th birthday!  Not only did they not seem happier than me, but they seemed to be really messed up a lot of the time.  Cured me of ever thinking money would make one happy...

I'm with you, Crybaby. I know my limitations and I'm just happy to have all the wonderful things I have in my life.

But, as you said, we dream of having our numbers come in on one of the lotteries. But just think of the number of people we could employ to take care of the tasks we no longer care to do for ourselves. That would be great for the local economy and a win-win situation. lol
