Dummy me, let the carrot peels go through the disposal....
DRAIN CLOG !!!! Crap. It's time like this when I do SO wish Mr. Amazing was here to give me "the look" and ask, "what the he** did you do that for?" (he always asks as if I intended to have the sink drain clog.....)
Of course, no rotary drain snake here, NOoooo, of course it's in Ohio (hanging on the wall in the garage ~ I can close my eyes and see it there). I got the drain apart. Thank heavens for the PVC stuff that is just hand tightened. I could not get it to open up with the old "metal clothes hanger straightened out" trick. So, off to Home Depot.
Darn, I did not want to spend $25 on a drain snake when I know Dane will bring it down with him. But wait! for $1.98 they have a handy-dandy plastic thingy that's intended to pull gunk out of drains. What the heck, why not start cheap and go back if it doesn't work? Seemed like a plan to me.
So, back to my icky drain. Back down on the floor (everything is by now covered with layers of newspaper so I have newsprint on my knees, arms, hands....yuck) and I shoved that dohicky as far into the drain line as I could....about 4" and it was stopped. I pulled it out, and there was some of the carrot peels. Kept doin' that until I was then able to push & pull the metal hanger in and catch more. Finally, I thought it was time to test it out.
I put the drain pieces back together and filled the sink with water.....here we go, and, low and behold ~~~~~ SUCCESS !!!
Sure am glad I paid attention all those other times when Dane was the one layin' on the floor with his head stuck under the sink....
