Have you ever had pepper in a cookie? I have a new recipe I want to try but it calls for 1/8tsp black pepper. What does it do and taste like?

You probably have a recipe for pfeffernusse. It is a German recipe that uses molasses and does have a little pepper in it.  They are hard like gingersnaps.

It is actually for a Mexican chocolate chocolate chip cookie recipe. Maybe i will give it a try with the pepper. I can make the dough without the chips and just add some chips to one cookie and see what i think. If I have to toss the dough at least i won't waste the chips.

I do a spice cookie at the holidays - Moravian Spice cookies. It has lots of spices:

• 1 t. ground cinnamon
• 3/4 t. ground ginger
• 1/4 t. ground cloves
• 1/2 t. finely ground white pepper
• 1/4 t. cayenne pepper
• 1/2 t. dry mustard powder

And they are delicious. You don't really taste the flavor of the peppers yet it is enhanced by the sugar, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to give any cookie with pepper a try.

Sounds really good. So different from the usual holiday cookie.
