I've been watching the "For Sale" ads, garage sale offerings, etc. for a bicycle ever since I got here last February. I wanted a bike. A real old fashioned, one speed, coaster brake bike.

When I was in Ohio I would regularly check the on-line ads for items for sale and there seemed to be a bike for sale every week. Then, once I got here and could go check out bikes for sale, all that was offered was bikes with changing speeds, 21-speed, touring bikes, complicated bikes with skinny seats - and handlebars you have to lean over to hold on to.

Well, yesterday I finally found MY bike. It's just what I wanted. Big wide cushy seat, fat tires, FENDERS and a single speed.....SLOW!

It needs some nice white handle grips (WITH streamers) but other than that, I think it will do just fine.

Love, love, love that bike!  Don't keep us in suspense, Beth.  How much did you have to shell out for it (unless that's too nosy)?

Oh, no problem....my life is an open book !

Asking price was $69 ~ I asked if he would take less and he said, "how about $65 ?"

Since I was willing to pay up to $75, I figure I got a deal!

I think you did indeed get a deal -- it's an adorable bike. And seats like that are usually pricey and it's so much more comfy that a regular bike seat.

Wow! What a neat bike!
Great Buy Beth! They are the way bikes were made with no constant brake adjustments and all those fancy gears adjustments.

Tina has a brand new bike that she could Never ride because of her inability to use her right hand. She always loved a bike.
It came with this little seat that I call "Crack *ss Seat" hhahahaha.... Well, I went to the bike shop, and got her this seat that was 12 inches wide, by about 14 inches long, and I put it on her bike to surprise her.
Wow! She was Sooooo surprised and broke down crying!
I said....what the heck is the matter?? She said," I WILL NOT Ride On That Seat!. I'm Not That Big that I would need a seat so large.

I said, " Well...if the seat fits, wear it!" ..... She was mad at me for 3 or 4 days and wouldn't talk to me!
I guess I went a little too extreme!

I didn't laugh until it finally hit me.

The kids fell on the floor laughing for sure. That made it even worse.
Then DD said..."Mommy, just ride at night where no one could see!"Laughing

Yeah! Looks comfy!
Make sure you wash it with antibiotic soap before you ride!

I remember our bike seat was all chipped and cracked. Mom sewed a terrycloth cover with elastic band all around..... Wow! a Red terrycloth from a frayed towel. Super neat looking! hahahahahaha

All you need now Beth, is a bell on the handle bar. or a Horn. Haaaa

Remember the boxes of Corn Flakes had a small license (tag) plate inside of all the different 48 states (back then)? We would mount them on the back fender.

Now you can get some plastic streamers on the handle bar grips. Pink Ones would be a good complimentary color. Laughing

I had to buy new handlebar grips as the ones on it were torn and twisted around. I looked and looked and could not find any streamers...........

and I really wanted them.............

but I'll keep looking............

I saw a gal just the other day driving down the street on her 3-wheeled bike, much smaller than a Harley but bigger than a Honda....SHE had streamers on HER handlebars. So cool!

My DH and I picked up a couple of beach cruisers a few years ago to ride around the 'hood but, alas, I couldn't ride it. My legs are too weak. What I need is a stationary bike to use to build up the muscles in my legs.
That seat looks wonderful! I wouldn't give a darn if anyone saw me riding on it. Most bike seats leave my bottom so sore that I couldn't ride again for a week. I'll never understand how a man can ever ride a bike with those narrow seats. With all the junk in the front trunk, you would think it would be extremely uncomfortable.
You need to get a clothes pin and a card (from a deck of cards) and clip it to the spokes of the bike. Makes a kind of motor sound.
Around here we have quite a few retirement communities and a few residents have these cool electric and motorized bicycles that they ride. A bit dangerous on a busy street though. I see adult tricycles too. My DH would have fun putting a motor on those.
My sister has the neatest thing - a 4-seater surry with a fringe on top. My DH would really have fun motorizing that! I wonder what she is going to do with it since her kids are all grown up? She used to decorate it at the 4th of July and be the lead in a local parade.

I just got done riding around our villa complex and the patio villa complex next door ~ both areas where I don't have to worry about traffic. I don't think I need the playing card & clothespin until I have Dane take a look at the rear tire and he tightens up some spokes ~ I think it's a bit out of balance as it just touches the frame every turn and "hums" - not enough to make it difficult to pedal, just a touch.

I still think that's the cutest bike I've seen in years, Beth. I love the color (even without streamers).

That ALWAYS makes it worse. I'm still laughing about it, Jimmy.
