They have a company that's been here for ages called Hubig's Pies. It burned down a couple of years ago and they're just gettiing around to rebuilding it in a new location. They make fried pies -- the best! They crinkle with sugar on the outside -- the kind that flakes off when you bite into them like the old glazed donuts used to do. My favorite is cherry, but they have apple, lemon, peach, etc. The day Hubig's burned, customers fanned out over the whole city and suburbs to buy 'em all up -- some idiots were even selling some on Ebay for a fortune. Can't wait to try one again in about a year or soBarbara101 wrote:My fav as a kid was my Grandmaw fried pies.I have tried forever to make the same but it is not the same. She fried hers.I do that too.But not just right.
