You get better PBS cooking shows than I do, Barb....
There was one Julia show, Baking with Julia, on at noon - the show in her later years where she invited pastry chefs to come to her kitchen to demo their recipes. I like the older shows where she is doing the cooking.
Then there was a baking with Martha.....again, not a fan.
And the final one before the travel shows came on was something about a couple chefs building their restaurant and very little cooking, save for a strawberry shortcake birthday cakes demo where they made cakes for their one year old twins.
Nothing with any substance. boring.
So, I went grocery shopping and strolled around the stores looking for something different. I even stopped at the local Aldi Grocery Store. Amazingly, they had some really fresh and inexpensive celery, cauliflower, baby cucumbers and a really green plantain for $.29 that got me wanting tostones, the double fried plantain chips.
And Jana, had I known you were MAKING bread & butter pickles today I wouldn't have bought a jar to have on hand for munching. My Tony Packo Sweet Hot pickles are my #1 favorite but the b&b are a close second!
