Barb, they are lovely. Just a word to the wise.

Do not cut them and take them in the house to admire....as they "ripen" they begin to stink to high heaven....at least that's my experience when I worked at the wholesale greenhouse foe 15 years.

I disagree, Beth, as they're some of my favorite cut flowers and I love the way they smell, though it's too strong for some.

All I recommend doing is removing the stamens as the blooms open, as they make a mess on the flowers, will stain your clothes and will make a mess falling on anything else inside.

I agree with Beth...way too strong! My husband is a romantic and always includes them in a bouquet because they were there on my wedding cake and decorations but I finally had to tell him I can't stand the powerful smell!
