I happen to just love W&S recipes & food pics, But I always have a great laugh when I get their SALE info..

$250 vs the $18. from wal mart lol I will take the latter.

Oh, yeah, that's the one I want to buy.....one for each of my girls, too.

I think the most I ever paid for a slow cooker was $20 for a larger oval one with a lock-down lid. Love it. I don't even consider spending big bucks on anything unless its something I use every day, or many times a week....like good pans. I'd be much more apt to spend $$ on two or three pots with lids in sizes I use constantly.

I have a small Rival 4 qt. that I use for meals that feed us twice -- small pot roast, small pork loin, casserole style dishes. Then I splurged and bought a Ninja 6 qt. for $149 at Wal-Mart, it browns in the pot and it can be used as you would a Nesco roaster as well as the slo-cooker. It is amazing for doing a big roasting chicken or a turkey breast. We use each of them once a week, sometimes more. I did my green beans, potatoes and ham in the Ninja and the beans didn't cook down to mush even after 8 hours on low and 5 on warm. But they were still soft and very tasty -- the broth was yummy, and we dunked our fresh baked sourdough into it.

I think I'm the only person on earth that doesn't have a slow cooker. I just never saw the need for one and I don't have the storage for another large thing for the kitchen, as we're jam-packed already!

I never used them until I was having such a hard time cooking, that we ended up eating out or ordering in, most of the time. I spent extra $$$ making this kitchen more user friendly, small appliances, easier storage etc. And it's paid off, we rarely eat out or carry in these days and that will save $$$ in the long run, too.

I've always liked my slow cooker for the portability....put the food in it and plug it in on the screened porch. All the heat and smells were outside and at supper time we had food!

gosh at one time ,just last year I had 4.

I made the mistake of taking Mac & Cheese to my DD. She wouldn't give it back.

Then I had a crock pot brand I hated hated. That thing burned the food & had hot spots.I gave that one to her to.

I use my cheapo from wal mart all the time. I make yogurt every 2 weeks.
